I thing that got me interested in Neopets as a kid was Merchandise.

I had two hard toy figures of the blue shoyru that was so cute.

TNT tried to introduce Merchandise on a company that couldn't handle it. Clearly the market is there

I'm pretty annoyed now that I never got one.
My boyfriend actually got me one of those neopets like tomatchi handheld game thingies, just for the novelty so at least I have something.
Pretty sure they had toys at McDonald's at one point. Peak Neopets time.

They're in the stages of some pretty rough Beta testing.
Why are they advertising like it's been completed?

There's such a disconnect between Neopets HQ and where ever they've farmed all of their work to.

I love how they are on the website telling us that its all very beginning beta and how they are open to making changes when we all said the layout was horrid and childish... then post that layout on youtube in an ad. Sounds like we're being lied to... again.

my thoughts exactly. them being "open to changes" and "still in early development" is clearly bullshit. they don't actually plan to make any improvements or take user feedback into account at all. we're gonna get stuck with that horrid update in a few months and frankly i dread the fucking day.

Thing is, Jumpstart's other assets are all aimed exclusively at children. They don't have a single adult product.

Doubt they're going to make Neopets their first foray into it.

So yeah, I kind of get it - there's going to be roadblocks and stumbling. It would be nearly impossible for them to about-face from advertising their 5th-7th grade products into advertising a site (with no real-world tie-ins like movies or TV shows) (yet) like their How to Train Your Dragon game.

It doesn't make it excusable either, but, ya know.

I feel like the advert doesn't capture the bits that get you addicted and connected to the game why not talk about:

Collecting Avatars
Trophies
Stamps
Customizing pets and the endless amounts of ways to do so
Completing galleries
High Score lists to show competition
Restocking to make money
Auction Sniping

They literally just talk about the pointless aspects in my eyes like getting 900NP on fashion fever, like what? Okay. People get connected to things emotionally, people love competition and this site has all that, i feel they haven't captivated Neopets correctly at all. I understand they only had a minute and i'm glad they are at least moving in some sort of forward direction even if it's executed poorly.

Same! The layout is so kiddie and it looks dated already. And I don't want to see my pets as a bunch of misfit NPCs on a green cartoon landscape, why would I spend so much money on their fucking backgrounds and background items if I can't see those -______-
