I think the main thing stopping me is what my family would say/think, but steps just to get it a bit shorter might be good!

I don't have any stories to share this pride unfortunately, I'd love to go to a parade again but I'm finding it difficult to get out right now so that sucks I will be donating to various pride organizations though, just because I can't get out doesn't mean I can't show support from home!

@(you need an account to see links) I understand that. My family is...not incredibly supportive of my hair choices. They aren't outright against it, but they've made it clear they would prefer if I grew it back out and made a few other shitty comments about gender. I recognize that it's a huge deal better than outright against it or aggression, but it's still difficult. I feel like a decent approach could be to cut off about a third of the current length (or a third of the previous cut once you consider grow-out) and just take it at the pace you feel comfortable. But also if that's not a step you feel ready to take at all, that's okay, too! Just trying to be encouraging. <3

@(you need an account to see links) I'm sorry you get pushback from your families on your hair decisions. The little (or big) comments can really get under your skin.

I'm bigender but present femme 90% of the time, which makes things a lot easier for me, especially at work. It's hard to be yourself in this world unless you surround yourself with supportive people, whether that be family or online/irl friends. I'm not out to my family and I don't know if I ever will be.

I dyed my hair pink and purple a few years ago and my parents were really upset by it.

But they accept me my hair now, I think, even if they don't acknowledge I'm gay.

Gender updates aren't limited to just hair, thankfully! I have a friend who bought their first binder this year, and seeing how freeing it was for them was really amazing and made me tear up a little!

Aww, that's really sweet! I think about getting a binder sometimes but I'm not quite there yet, I think.

Oh I know it isn't just hair at all! I have a friend with PCOS and they stopped shaving completely clean sometime during the past year or two, and in general they've really come into their own.

I'm still kind of figuring out everything for myself as far as presentation goes. It's been hard because a lot feels inextricable from decades of body image struggz, but I know that isn't uncommon.

it's been way too long since anything Gay happened in my life but I'll pick something older/formative to post about later, for now here's a scene from the ck discord:

it turns out this conversation was about water bottles - happy pride
