    It's Summertime!

    It's finally summer time!
    (at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)

    So, I want to know...

    What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
    Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

    I will go first!

    As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

    1)
    This section is for discussion of miscellaneous topics that do not fit into another site section. If another section (like Help, Neopets Chat, Movies/TV, Debate Zone etc.) suits your intended topic better, please post it there instead. The key word here is "discussion"- if it is not a topic that will generate meaningful discussion, it will be moved to SPAM. Posting a meme, for example, belongs in the SPAM section.

    2) All posts in this section must be a minimum of 1 sentence long, and need to include an explanation of why. This is to encourage people to not only state their view on a topic, but to provide evidence/examples that support their opinions. For example: "My favourite breed of dog is dachshund, because they have such adorably silly little body shapes and are very affectionate."

    Thank you for this information about toads, i love toads, we don't have here where i live (they'd be frozen), i miss toads, when i was a kid living in a more tropical place i would catch toads and snakes to fill my pockets with random animals every time i'd go to the countrysides

    @(you need an account to see links)! Last time, like 5 years ago, we went to Argentina and had a blast! My summer is on January, so most places i'd like to travel would be in winter haha i'd love to have a snowy xmass at least once! Movies have sold it to me hahaha

    For my winter i think i'd go to spain, expanded family can receive, i was told you can walk from one country to another and i'd love to see those mediterranean hotels on my puzzles ♥

    I can ask 4 weeks out of work every year (i had 5 this year because the ones you don't use, you can save them up to a year later, then you have to use them; used 2 this summer and next monday my next 3 weeks start!) i def miss the school system when you had 3 winter + 3 summer vacation weeks!

    Where you'd like to travel for a summer break?

    oh man this song came up on my music shuffle and it reminded me how this is one of my favorite summer albums ever. This album was released in June. It came out the week that a few of us at work had Senior Skip Day, where we all "called out" sick (I was the manager and it was all-preplanned it so it wasn't really everyone ditching work in mass chaos) and road tripped to Hamilton Pool together. We listened to this album for the drive and it was perfect summer vibes.

    not my pictures, but Hamilton Pool used to be an amazing swimming hole back before it became a victim of its own popularity, these days it's always super overcrowded :') I'm glad I got to experience before Austin had its massive population boom.

    @(you need an account to see links) yo I totally feel that - there are some songs/albums that were constantly played on the t40 radio in my area during my senior year of high school that are just so memorable because they're attached to all those great memories ;~;

    also holy shit that is gorgeous??? I'm not much of an outdoors or nature kind of gal but I love those beautiful natural swimming pools! maybe one day I will be able to experience something like that haha we shall see. lucky you got to experience it before it got overrun! hate when a good thing is ruined like that.

    I just wanted to come by and say that the UK is having it's worst heatwave yet and I am actually melting in this horrific heat. You guys, it hit 40°C today which is 104°F We never go anything above like 25°C during the summer. We are not built for this ;n; We have no AC either. The air feels so thick, it's like walking through an oven ;O;

    I love a good hot day during the summer, heck I love it when it hits 30°C but anything more than that here is a nooooo nooooooo!!! It's like the heat here is different to hot countries, I can't explain it. Also our homes are built to insulate heat ;u;

    being someone who has only lived in Texas, I was shocked to hear a friend that lives in Seattle mention last year that they have no AC and were struggling bad in a heatwave. I hadn't realized some places have moderate enough summers to not need it. It got so bad she ended up having to go to a cool down center that the city set up for people who were endangered by the heat. I cannot imagine trying to get through 40°C with AC, doesn't that become an actual serious hazard to people and animals? Is your city having to react and create cooling spots? As far as bizarre weather patterns go, I think I'd rather go through another freeze like Texas had in February 2021 than have to handle a heatwave without being properly equipped for it.

    Whoa that's wild! I thought they also had AC but I guess not :0 We are advised to not go out unless it's absolutely necessary (work), most schools have actually closed due to health safety to the unusual heat. None of our homes have built in AC as we are generally a cold country, so we have built in heaters instead. I feel bad for anyone that owns pets too, this most be soooo bad for the little furrbabies!

    I literally walked outside on my lunch break in 40°C and felt like I was suffocating from lack of air, had to speed walk back inside where there was AC. I generally can take on really hot weather with no problems but this is really something else. I had a look at the weather app today and we were hotter than Dubai at one point!!!

    Oooh I see!

    I mostly traveled with my parents as a kid, we went to France, Hungary(maaaany times) and Turkey. And Gran Canaria (Spain) and, as my german heritage requires, I also went to Mallorca once ofc. But not to the Ballermann. :'D

    Oh that's about what we have over here too regarding vacation times. We can also carry over leftover days until a certain point in the following year.

    I'd really love to go to Scotland or Ireland. And one day I wanna go to canada and Japan, but those are soooo far away and I usually have issues when flying for long (getting headache and my ears hurt) so I'm super anxious. And it's expensive, too. x_x

    Oh my, I'm so sorry. We're suffering over here, too, but it's not that bad (yet). Read about the heat waves in UK even in our local paper though.
    I read keeping damp towels in the fridge/freezer and laying them on your wrists/neck/ankles really helps to cool down?

    It is now finally hot enough to where the weather decides my entire day lmao. I can have a whole day planned with activities, but if I practically have a heat stroke just going down stairs to my car, imma have to cancel everything.
