I just bought it and installed it on my Steam Deck! Really excited to play it after work today.

I feel this. I wasn't in school very long (2nd - 4th grade only, I did graduate high school but it was homeschool) but in 2nd grade the teacher started reading the first book to us and I didn't think anything of it and told my mom and she wrote a letter and we weren't allowed to read it anymore and I got a long lecture why it was evil.

Oh no that's horrible! I'm sorry that happened. Was everything else off limits too? Like Pokemon, Digimon, basically everything magical/fantasy? I say you should totally embrace the Dark Arts, hehe! Maybe watch a few twitch streams to see if you will enjoy the gameplay.

Holy smokes, I didn't think I would get this many replies this quick.

I preordered the game and was going to play it with a bunch of friends but a friend of mine tried to publically cancel me in a friendgroup for buying the game so I had to refund... so I'm just watching my other friends play at the moment which is a bummer, because it looks AMAZING and all my friends are enjoying it so much. I love the combat (but I'm a big fan of weeee lasers) and the quests are so cute

For those with Steam Decks; My game runes pretty bad on low settings, so I'm sticking to my PC to play, but let us know if you can get it running decently on y'alls Decks!

I'm excited that it's Friday now that I can forget about classes for a moment and grind the game some more. I'll probably end up going for 100% on this game, which will be interesting to see how long it will take considering there's SO MANY COLLECTABLES.

Back on topic though, is it worth it to read the books over watching the movies or do you get the same general lore knowledge? I am considering picking it up in the distant future if it ever goes on sale.

How are you enjoying it?

I was talking with another friend of mine and explained it like this.

I'm so used to just rushing through games quickly, spending HOURS trying to beat it. There are just so many things to do in this one, so many side quests and what not. That I am actually just enjoying my time, exploring what I can and where I can. It honestly lived up to any and all expectations I've had, and I'm barely even into the game.

I will say, it is not a very "go to Hogwarts, and take classes" type of game which is what a lot of people were expecting from what I've read. So the ones who have mentioned that on their reviews, I typically just ignore.

But yeah, let me know how you like it!

I can't speak on that since I've never read the books, only up the third movie, and I feel like I'm not really "missing" anything I should know. Like I said before, the only thing you wouldn't get is small easter eggs. For example, locations that key events happened at in the movies/books. Or characters/objects. I could be wrong though. The game does have lore pages you go around collecting!

So I've almost made it to Hogsmeade and I'm seriously loving this game!! I love the combat and I don't think the graphics are that bad. I'm playing on PS5 and I think it looks amazing. Definitely worth playing if you love Harry Potter but I'm sure you'd still like it even if you've never read the books or watched the movie!

Coming back to this to report my Steam Deck playing.

Honestly, I'm not a big graphics person. A lot of people have issues with Pokemon (and I do agree, Gamefreak can definitely do better for their games) and how boring or plain it looks visually and graphically, but I still enjoy the games to the fullest. I'm saying this to compare to Hogwarts, and that there are some dips in graphics/FPS, but it's really only visible during cutscenes where there's a lot of action, and a few times during combat if there's a lot of enemies on the screen at the time. It isn't a long stutter or anything, but there is a hiccup or two and it's noticeable.

Outside of that, I'm absolutely loving the game! I love the RPG format , and the game is still enjoyable even though I don't know much at all about the lore.
