Do you think the art for site items has improved lately?

Knowing my luck as soon as I point this out TNT's art will decline in quality again, but I was comparing these two items, and the difference is like night and day?




I understand one item was inspired by a fan submitted idea but that's all the more reason for it to have looked good when the original art looked better than this. Plus I feel like most items that came out around october-november last year didn't look good. I wonder if they hired a new artist or brought someone back? Or do you disagree and think items looked better before?

I agree that something have changed. Neopets art was pretty disappointing in the end of last year, I mean, the last Stocking Stufftacular and Haunted Mansion had a few cute items, but mostly junk. The new year capsule was terrible and tbh, even most of the capsules were not worth my dollars. But lately, they released some pretty things, and I noticed the change after this capsule was released:

I don't know if it's only a coincidence, but after the release of Wondrous Winter Mystery Capsule, the site improved their art A LOT. I don't know if they finished converting the games and now they're having more time to create new items, but something is definitely different!

And... I couldn't end a post about nc art improvement without talking about the cutest item of the year, so let me use this post to share my love about this foreground:

I think the NC items are getting better but the paint jobs for the Neopets is laughable at best

The festival of negg neggs look the same as previous years so I'm assuming the art's still going to be the same

I just think they recycle some arts that other artists did in the past for the capsule and NC items in most part.
I have my doubts since the paints jobs was most of the time ugly in the past months. Unless they have an artist attributed for the paint job & one or two for the nc related items.

I think either they hired a new artist that is working on some of the items and the previous staff is doing some of the atrocities we see (looking at you, yellow hsfg) OR they have uncovered some items old TNT drew but never released and just sneak those in every once in a while!

I know Melted Creepy Crayon Foreground that was released in the fall falls within the Secret Meepit Stache Blueprint items from 2012 in the SDB, and Purple Patchwork Caplet which was a Wonderclaw RR LE also shows up near the other items from that game in 2011. Thinking through, the new items would probably show up earlier in the SDB as well so maybe I'm incorrect and it's just a new artist lol
