Out of curiosity, does anyone know much the full set cost in the really early days of neopets? I think it came out in Y2?

I remember buying it in middle school (2002-2005) just that it would have been some time before the gallery feature was released because I remember trying to show my friends and accidentally pricing them at 12356 instead of 123456 and they got bought immediately by somebody who was kind enough to sell me back for the same price. But I can't find when galleries were released to date it.

Long story long, I think I spent about 100k on each piece, I don't think there was any big discrepancy in prices between pieces, either.

I think they used to be available through Key Quest, right? So I think even though KQ's been gone for several years, the supply from it has finally dried up and so prices are rising. That's my guess!

They were, and there was an exploit many years back where you could generate gold key quest keys. There used to be a ton in the economy from this (and the codestones too) but I imagine a lot of people got frozen or sold their pieces already.
