Jumpstart Done - Neo is OK

This news got me thinking so I looked up on google and it seems in 2018 neopets was valued at $32M and the site updated to say only $2.3M now.
Not sure how accurate any of that is but if it happens hopefully it's some rich nostalgic person who can put resources back into it.

This is crazy for a site that could've been milked to hell and back considering a lot of the people who played it during the 2000s is now an adult with purchasing power and it covers a very specific niche that no other site has achieved to do. Such a missed opportunity

I don't really know about it. I want to be hopeful but in my experience every time a brand/product/don't know what you would call this switches companies it gets a little bit worse. Like something second hand switching owners over the years. We'll see. I do feel bad about the team though, hope they'll stay. Some of them sounded passionate about Neo and tried their best considering the lack of manpower/time/money.

I don’t see any changes, positive or negative happening as a result of this news. Hopefully they keep on some of the same staff because a new developer coming in to take over the upgrades and maintenance of neo would be a disaster. They need a whole ass team to maintain all the different pieces and it’s a miracle more things haven’t broken as time goes on tbh. It just sounds like a general restructuring, nothing to be too concerned about. I guess we will see how things shake out in the coming months.

I don’t see anything posted on the site itself, so hopefully that’s a good sign?

Hard Agree. They really should've put their focus into the flash conversion back then, because COVID would've worked majorly in their favor for returning players. And likely would've avoided such a tank in value..

Man absolutely, I just cannot fathom on any level in this plane of existence how they rationalize constantly (at their pace) posting updates and communications in the Discord server that is not actually official in any capacity (and we still can't even mention the fucking server on-site!!!) but leaving the on-site communications high and dry until literal disasters come through. Like. What the actual fuck, how do they think this is okay or proper business running behavior. =_=

I totally agree with you.

I don't see how it's impossible to write the exact same thing on the 'News' section of Neopets or to just add it to yesterday/most recent post with an [UPDATE] or something.

If Discord was considered official then maybe that's a different story. But it's not and it's not even allowed to mention it onsite -_-

For people who aren't on reddit or discord, I wonder how in the dark are they.

But I digress - back on topic I'm glad that Neopets isn't included in the shutdown. Ngl, I always talk about how shitty Neopets is... but if it really were to shut down I know that I'd be sad. (I also wonder what the main topic of our forum would be if neopets was gone...)

The statement was added to the New Features entry for today. Not sure if they added it or it was included with it upon original posting.
