they say so many things and do it anyway so next week they could decide to like bring ucs back and then a week later change their mind and mass convert anyway

I believe the rumor that they cannot legally make unconverted pets is just a myth. I think they're just lazy shits @(you need an account to see links)

I'm just pulling from memory here, but I think in that same AMA they said that they didn't have much say in the decision to sell to Viacom. They were already purchased/predominately funded by some Scientology group (ha) from the early days, and it seems like that group made the decision to sell.
Decided not to be lazy and went and found a few quotes from Donna that back up what I'm saying. You can find the whole thing (you need an account to see links).
I don't think there would have been a future where we could have stayed at Neopets indefinitely. We were just getting burnt out. We didnt instigate the sale, but we didnt try to stop it either. I think if we hadn't have sold then, Adam and I would have parted company with Neopets one way or another within a couple of years anyway.^^ In response to someone asking why they sold the site.We really werent involved in the decision. I know that may sound strange but we were pretty much excluded from all decisions regarding investment or the future of the company. On the flip side, we had total free rein over what we put on the side (aside from the odd restraint from the legal department).
It was a very odd situation. Our role within the company was utterly downplayed publicly. I think the management would rather we were just regular employees rather than the actual founders and the people who were up until god knows when fixing things when they went wrong. We were extremely naive and our only focus was what we thought was best for the site. If we could do it again, there would definitely be things we did differently.

It wasn't even them that sold to Viacom though, Neo was bought by that Scientology guy then THEY sold Neo to Viacom. Adam & Donna didn't really have a say in the site's fate at that point, they could only put in their input which didn't really mean much. (Donna said something along those lines in her AMA I believe) After typing this I totally just realized @(you need an account to see links) said the same thing... great minds think alike!
@(you need an account to see links) I REMEMBER THOSE COMMERCIALS. I had so much Neo merch too when I was younger, it was ridiculous. And I remember in old Editorials/Donna's AMA they said that there was a possibility of a Neo movie/TV show, but it never happened. I don't know how I would feel about a movie (unless it was based on a plot I guess?) but a TV show could actually work though. But we all know that's not gonna happen now.
I see, never knew it went that way. Nice to know

I keep a screenshot of what Donna said in her Q&A about UC pets on my userlookup. TNT would profit a lot if they made an expensive unconverter thing for the NC mall and don't even realize it.

I asked Adam about the UC copyright a while before the AMA.

I think in the AMA Adam or Donna said that the money they made from the sale is all gone now. That sucks.
Man, I bet they could release a $10 Fortune Cookie that transforms your pet into a random UC and make sooooo much money. Combine the desirability of UCs with the gambling aspect and holy shit that would be so manipulatively evil but brilliant.
(If anyone plays gaiaonline) Gaia online uses poses to their advantage to spread the possible uses of items in different ways. I KNOW TNT could do this and increase the way neopets can hold items/change emotions. This'll give players more of a connection with customization.
It'll also defeat the whole stupid shit that tnt does with stupid holding items. "OH? Your pet is a 4 legged animal?! OH let me put that on some stupid stand" NO!
Gaia also uses the emotions to their advantage. You're able to buy a bunch of funny facial expressions. I think neopets players WOULD LOVE this! Who actually enjoys having a pet that is like a sticker? It shows no emotion other than "I'm not hungry or sick"
