It's been known since they announced the cookbook some time ago that it came with an avatar. And yes, Willow stated in the Discord months ago that the avatar will count towards your goal, but it was still being discussed between the team.

We can fault them for charging money for an avatar.. but realistically I think it’s a good move. The NFT thing was poorly executed and they could have done SO much more there. But a cookbook is a good idea. Kind of niche, but it could be a gift for so many occasions.. for current players or more of a nostalgia thing. I like it. Probably won’t get it, but I think it’s a solid idea to get some more exposure out there.
