It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

While we are on the topic of summer fruits - my favorite one is definitely peach. I don't know if it's really regarded as summer fruit but at least where I live they only show up (at their best) during summer. I really can't describe how much I love peaches, lol.
Sometimes I get handed something that the other person call a "peach" but it's far from it, instead it's some kind of mutated species that is yellow on the inside and smooth on the outside - this one I really don't like lol.

Have you guys heard of / tried fruits like longan, lychee, rambutan and mangosteen?
It's pretty common where I live, but I think it's rare in the west and might look funny especially rambutan since it's hairy.


I gotta say I'm a fan of durians too!

I don't think I ever saw this fruit in real life!
It looks like a wild strawberry lmao. Love it. I really want to try one now. What does it taste like? Is it more sweet or sour?

Wow this thread goes really fast haha. I like grapes, strawberries and peaches. I'm more open to different flavors when it's made into smoothies.

For drinking in summer I cannot resist strawberry lemonade, passion fruit (in my country is called Maracuyá) or star fruit (Carambola). Happiness recipe

It's sweet and has a nice texture to chew on.
It has a brown seed in the middle and I always have difficulty removing the flesh from the seed!

HAHA! There are people around me who hates the smell of durians too!
Have you tried durian desserts instead? E.g., durian puffs
Interesting fact: It's not allowed in public transport because of the smell.

Sounds like the one you don't like are nectarines? I think they're a separate species but look similar minus the smooth skin

Yep! They are sweet and juicy too! Sometimes the juice drips on my hand while I'm peeling it.

Yep! Jackfruit is common over here too but I have to say it's not one of my favourites. :p
It is a little bit "sticky" and I don't like that feeling on my fingers.
