It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

It's a type of cocktail (although I used to get virgin strawberry daiquiris all the time as a kid, which I guess were just strawberry smoothies). I never questioned how I pronounced it, but everybody was talking about it earlier and it stopped feeling like a word.

It's not. Strawberry daiquiris are a particular kind of frozen daiquiri, but I'm honestly not sure what makes a daiquiri a daiquiri.

According to wikipedia:

Daiquiri is a family of cocktails whose main ingredients are rum, citrus juice (typically lime juice), and sugar or other sweetener.
The daiquiri is one of the (you need an account to see links) listed in David A. Embury's classic (you need an account to see links), which also lists some variations.

And if I click on the link to the six basic drinks:

Daiquiri
8 parts white Cuban rum
2 parts lime juice
1 part simple syrup
Shake with much finely crushed ice and strain well into a chilled cocktail glass.

Daquiris come in so many flavours! When I stayed in Vanuatu I had a banana flavoured one, it was amazing God I want to go back to Vanuatu so bad lol

Out of all these years, I've never actually had a Daiquiri.
But they sound pretty good.

It's so hot here, should I get ice cream from McDonald's?
They just released mango flavour. Tried the yubari melon few months back and it was good, so might probably give mango a shot.
Pretty curious what flavours are available in other places!

On my way home from taking my friends into the Park, I was actually thinking of stopping by McDonalds to get a drink and fries, but things are just so expensive now
