It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

we have something similar here. Its usually call it Ice Pops.

I have these here too! Used to get a packet of them from shops downstairs.
Or to buy individual ones at 10 cents each!

Instead of cutting it open, I would bite the top and twist it till it broke!

This reminds me that when I was little I CHEWED them. I chewed the ice. Thinking about it now gives me chills. My teeth are no longer what they used to be...

@(you need an account to see links) Oh! You just reminded me that was the other way we'd open it! But I remember it was a huge pain to try to get the ice out from the tip at the start.
These were seriously one of the best things to help with cooling down with our weather here lol.

I remember always buying one after school from small shops and they cost like maybe 10cents for 1, and we'll break them in half to share with friends.

I loved sharing with friends that was always the best part! I never bought them individually from the store but we'd get the packs and I'd share those.

I've always called them "freezer pops", but "freezies" were super common among the other kids I grew up with.

I was trying to think of memories to share about summers but as a kid that's when my parents would go away on vacation and I'd stay with my grandparents, so not a lot too interesting (except The Price Is Right & Velveeta cheese with pita bread). In one of the hotter months once though, I remember looking outside and it was super sunny and then all of a sudden it started hailing. I just remember being so confused because it's not allowed to hail when the sun is out.

jljklsajfdkla I have to say summer is for obvious reasons my least favorite season of the year 😭 I do not mix well with bright sun and hot weather (my area is also known as like a fucking armpit, the humidity is INSANE) but the sole redeeming factor of summer is that ice cream is extra refreshing to enjoy! quite possibly my favorite dessert, I actually JUST got back from the store and I bought two pints (that were like 8.50 USD PER PINT 🙃🙃🙃 fuck I'd pay 10 USD a pint for this it's that good, my absolute favorite flavor 😭) was literally grinning from ear to ear as I was carrying them through the store like a child

but growing up I think summer time meant going to the pool a lot - which is weird because well it's not like we had a pool but I guess we lived very close to like a community center with a pool my parents would take my sister and I too or once we did move to an apartment complex there was a pool that we'd spend so many weekends marinating in the chlorine during the summer months. of course above all I probably miss having summer vacation when I was still a student... no such thing as summer vacation when you're a full time working adult anymore 😅

also those ice pops that @(you need an account to see links) posted, I definitely used to get those from the asian grocery store with my cousins when we were kids and I have no idea why but we called them chuchu pops lol!! it was always a bitch to squeeze out all the ice though because the shape is just so stupid?? LOL
