What Makes a Great Avatar?

Well, mine matches my username and it changes with certain holidays. Right now, I’m valentines Cinna, and I have a holiday Cinna, a Halloween/autumn Cinna and I even have a spring/summer vibe Cinna I use! Cinnamoroll is my entire identity here and I’m so used to people calling me Cinna that I would feel weird if my avatar/pfp wasn’t Cinnamoroll at this point!

Mostly I just have fun making a customization and then putting my cat in it. I used to make myself custom userbars for every single one, but I've been less inspired with designing them the past couple of years, and when I have been inspired I haven't had time, so I sort of fell off of it.

Not the Neopets avatars, the ones here on clraik! What do you like about your avatar? Does it hold special meaning? What ones are better? Characters, memes, or a landscape style like mine? I was thinking of changing mine, but it feels like a big commitment because its essentially your face on clraik!

I used to be a gray purist and now I allow myself to have themes. I was going to change my UN to "Darkest Faerie" to go from gray to black but I feel too identified with the character I created haha so when I get bored and want to change a little, I just create a new skin: Christmas Grey, Valentine's Day Grey, Nurse Grey.
I don't have time to do Ubs anymore, which is a shame.

Back in the day my first forums were Adventure Quest and DZ i used to actually do photoshop grunge signatures. that was my thing. my designs nowadays are dated but thats all i knew. i used to use gundam or game characters.

nowadays obvs my name is Excalibur from the King Arthur legends based however i use the Nissan GTR

or any nissan for that matter. I am a mechanic by trade and the only car that was up to my standards of reliability was my Z. so i dove deep into nissan wrenching and figured out most cars share parts from other manufacturers especially family ones: nissan/infinit acura/honda toyota/lexus

anyways lol i preferred nissans and the GTR is the power house of nissan. the reigning godzilla of the 90s.

dont get me wrong they have their flaws. but coming from GM dogcrap, ford rust buckets, and even my fav all time the Evolution GSR my Z, G37 and even GTR's can be more reliable in a sense.

I'm a fan of mine for the obvious reasons (favorite colors, sea serpent is a favorite mythical creature) but I especially love it because it's a little microcosm of cK's kindness and talent. Five people contributed to my avatar: Two by taking a request from me, two by proactively doing something kind for me, and one by taking on a commission for me. It's a little symbol of the community spirit here that makes cK special and makes me feel like I'm part of the community myself to have an avatar so many of the other forum members have had a hand in.

I like this phrase, it's so true lol whenever someone updates their avatar or username, it takes me a while to put two and two together and figure out who they 'were' previously even though duh, ofc they are the same person!

I've been Vis with a Bambi avatar and Bambi/Rambo crossover pfp ever since I joined! I just liked the art in the Bambi movie and he's the first thing I thought of when looking for an avatar. Then I made the deer sig from a gif to go with my avatar, so I guess deers are now my face on cK

Ok but what about the profile picture? If the avatar is our visible face, I think the profile picture is something more intimate lol?

I haven't changed my profile picture since I got my ryu. It's part of my cK story. Being a ryumom changed my life hahah
