Hello there
I love reading, but then I watch the film and it's not always up to the expectiations and it lacks comparing to the book, eg, Dr.Jivago, Anna Karenina, The picture of Doray Gray.
And there are books that were so good that I am afraid to watch the film, eg, Of mice and men, The never ending story, The book thief.
What stories did you read the book and watch the film? What were the best and the worst ones?
Thank you

I disliked the film adaption of Eragon. To me it wasn't the worst thing ever, but it could have been so much more than what it was.
Similar with The Great Gatsby.

The Hunger Games, to be honest. Movies looks just like another Love Triangle movie, and the book's Katniss is selfish as hell, I love her, so badass.
Twilight. I LOVED the books as a young teen, still kinda do, and the movies completely ruined the series. I feel like the books were able to encapsulate the somber, melancholic aspects of Edward's character as an immortal, which Robert Pattinson even verbally expressed he wanted to play

The Lord of the Rings. The book is sooo much better. Same with Stephen King's The Dark Tower. And Dune. I really hope they'll make a new one and a good one.
But Shawshank Redemption for example is a great movie. The Green Mile, too. The Bridges of Madison County might be even better than the novel. Trainspotting is simply great. Fight Club too.
Also To Kill a Mockingbird, The Silence of the Lambs. I can think of some others. Nothing recent, sadly.

Percy Jackson series. I read all the books and what the author did with the mitology on the book was very interesting. I don't know why but they messed up with the two movies. Thanks God they gave up trying to keep the movie series.

Guess the fantasy ones are always the hardest to make a good adaptation. Totally agree with the Lord of The Rings. Even with Harry Potter.
Indeed, a lot of them are good films, but totally apart from the book. Still have to read/watch some you have mentioned.
The Help was a good one. Not to mention only the bad ones.
And if we enter the world of manga to motion (be it in anime or live action), a lot of them is lacking something, isn't it?
I was so frustrated with Insurgent (the sequel to Divergent). I freakin' LOVED that book! But to be fair, that book was mostly psychological and I understand that they probably had pressure to make the second movie as action-filled as the first so they COMPLETELY twisted and fucked up the story to make it so. So like, I get it, but I'm still not happy about it.

@(you need an account to see links), indeed. When they only grab a bit of the book and make it so a "larger" amount of people would watch the film... it's not the same story anymore.
It is sad.

Like they really should've just called it Divergent 2 at that point, because it was so far off what Insurgent really was. I stopped watching the movies after that because I knew they'd gone completely off of the books. I'm sure that's how Song of Ice and Fire fans must feel about the final seasons of Game of Thrones.
