Paypal Charges on Bank Account Statement?

Hiiiii. I'm hoping that other people who frequently use Paypal for transactions have encountered this before or know what my best course of action is. I just noticed three fraudulent charges on my bank account statement that are all marked as "pending" & all three start with "PAYPAL" (see pic)

I have two paypal accounts linked to my bank account (one is old and I haven't used it in years), but I checked both accounts and neither one of them with my bank info attached are showing any pending payments. I called my bank and they told me to contact Paypal since the payments are still pending, so I submitted a ticket... but if they're not showing up on my Paypal account(s), does that mean they've already been denied? Or did someone link my bank to another Paypal account without my knowledge somehow?

I hate people. That is all.

It might be best to wait a day and see if the charges get approved or if they're denied.
If they're not showing up on either of your paypal accounts, then as you mentioned, it's possible someone linked your bank account without you knowing.
It'd be wise to see if you can get your bank account info changed. If those are places you've never spent money at before, and you already notified your bank, I don't think it would be too difficult to get the charges reversed if they complete pending.
PM me to see what I have up for sale! Always selling UCs/NP/Accounts!
Offering free PIN cracks to Clraik rank (and higher!), just shoot me a PM.

Yeah. I've already changed my bank account info - I'm not going to worry about getting a new card or anything unless phony charges NOT linked to paypal start showing up, too. I'm moreso just worried about how to get my account unlinked from a paypal account (if it is) without having access to that paypal account. Hoping Paypal can help clear it up, the charges don't go through, and it'll all be good. Just didn't know if someone else had ever experienced this. Grr.

If the charges complete then I'd say if you can prove to Paypal that you're the (bank) account owner and not the Paypal account holder, it should be easy for them to unlink it and suspend the Paypal account.
Hopefully you get everything worked out, this sounds like a pain in the ass!

even if someone did link your bank to their Paypal, they would need to know the amount of each Paypal transaction to complete the bank linking process... Is it possible these 3 transactions are part of the confirmation process?

In 2 to 3 business days, review your bank statement to find 2 small deposits (each between $0.01 and $0.99 USD) that we sent to your bank account. There will be a third entry on your statement combining these two amounts as a withdrawal. For example, you may see two deposits of $.05 and $.15 and a withdrawal of $.20. Enter the 2 small amounts, in this example this would be $.05 and $.15, on the confirm bank screen. With this information, you can (you need an account to see links) or follow the steps below:

    1. Click (you need an account to see links) at the top of the page.
    2. Click the bank you want to confirm.
    3. Enter the exact amounts of the 2 deposits made to your account, then click Submit.

The only other thing I can think about would be a recurring payment of sorts? I have things like Spotify, and other monthly things linked to my PayPal. If you have anything like that, maybe your PayPal balance wasn't enough so it pulled right from your account. Other than that... I'm not sure

I would definitely call paypal, don't wait for the ticket to go through. You will have better luck talking to someone

Also, close your Paypal account that you don't use anymore!!!

Nah, I've gone through that process before (and forgot about it, thanks for reminding me, lol) and it's literally just a few cents. Definitely wouldn't be $80ish worth in multiple charges. But that makes me feel a little better!

They're definitely not payments I authorized, and I can't just shut down my Paypal account because I use it pretty dang frequently. Both my bank and Paypal have told me that I need to wait for it to go through to figure out what's going on - I'm thinking now that someone may have gotten my card info and just processed payments through a Paypal seller; they're marked as "Quasi-Cash Transactions," which are like loading of electronic purses or lottery tickets, casino chips, money orders, travelers checks, etc. So basically like any intermediary form that retains cash value without being cash. I don't think I'll have an issue disputing it if they do go through, but I'm so dang sick of having to update all my shit when I need to get a new debit card. >___<
