Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby or Pokemon X/Y

Recently got back into Pokemon and bought Pokemon Sun after only playing Gen 4 when I was younger. Thinking of buying another game and wasn't sure which would be a better choice or if I should buy Moon and play through this story again since the story of Sun/Moon really drew me in and made me curious about another game. I also like the trial concept a lot over the actual gyms themselves which makes me compelled to pick up Moon..

I'm considering getting Moon and I'm still playing through Sun.

You should try X/Y next, IMO.

    X/Y next, definitely.

I played X, Alpha Sapphire and picked up Moon today.

Kept returning to X for shiny hunts etc, made it halfway through AS' main story before abandoning it and loving Moon so far.

I played the original Gen 3 of Sapphire and Ruby, and to say AS & OR are a disappointment........ would be an understatement.
There's so much missing from the remakes compared to the originals, that it barely even resembles its predecessors. "You like Battle Frontier? Ya do? Well we don't. We're not including it! "

Aside from my bitterness, the game alone is alright. But if you want something that's new and not a rehash of an AMAZING gen, go with X/Y. Pretty solid game.

Will definitely think about getting X/Y then thank you guys. My only thing with X/Y though is i'm not too fond of any of the starters for some reason but I really like all of the customization options you have for your trainer.

X/Y was the introduction to that feature, so the customization is a lot less in comparison to Sun & Moon.
And yes.. the starters are lack luster. But I'd say the game itself is very enjoyable.
Here's a pretty in-depth article of what the game offers
