I also wish they used this to also address the displeasure people have with the Editorial part of the NT.8. Neopian Times Submission Rule Change
We updated the NT Submissions Page rules with a brand new rule regarding collaborations. Because, you know, rules make the world go round. So get your submissions in order!No one is interested in reading bug fixes / item name updates while TNT shoves in a "happy corner" every two weeks. The overall quality of the Editorial and the questions that are answered are in definite need of an overhaul.
Looks like they added Dacardia and moved the Lutari Island storm over it but didn't reopen Lutari Island
Some updates went live, a bunch of site redesigns including the community central page, contests, pet central, the pound abandon page and pronunciation page.
The most notable is the inventory beta.

I like the bar's placement and such - it has the links I am always trying to grab but they're not where I expect them. I feel like my brain is AOL dial-up when I try to find the SDB link then remember its in the sidebar. Trying to be optimistic that this is a good step forward with many more to come. (Ignoring the DDoS, anyhow lol. Would love some security updates on that front.)
I can't believe this is happening. I mean it may not be really a lot, but if feels like A LOT because many players were expecting this stuff.
They're really surprising me and I hope they continue this way, little steps but it seems they finally listening!

On mobile I'm not loving some of the new changes, the calendar on the community page feels huge and I liked being able to clock to spotlights and neoboards quickly before
Same with the spotlight page, the icons all being in a column on mobile is awful, I don't want to have to scroll for every contest
Other than that though, happy about the underscore fix at least!

Oh no the inventory is now... worse? Two toolbars on top of one another? Did anyone go to human-centered design school???
Begging them to put all the fucking icons behind a hamburger menu on mobile that uses WORDS that can be TRANSLATED so I don't have to GUESS what another random SQUARE-SHAPED ICON MIGHT MEAN
Great job on the games tho, that was sorely needed

Yeah exactly - like, I feel like I can see what they were trying to do, which is both "emulate the old design" and "put links to common places you'd go from your inventory," but in that case, it needs to be above the header to better differentiate between in-page and out-of-page navigation. But. Then you'd have that toolbar directly under the world nav toolbar lol. NOT GREAT
