NC UCs coming in 2024!

Im not going to dive into the whole “capitalism” mentality there. It’s a game. Am I mad that I won’t be able to sell things like I used to? Absolutely! Do you not care because we are not in the same shoes, like I mentioned? Absolutely! Different situations, different mindsets. You’re entitled to feel that way but I don’t agree.

I have a middle-of-the-road view of the overall situation and see what TNT is doing as a logical step revenue-wise but nah TNT did you dirty.

When they first announced the ncucs what were your initial thoughts? Did you expect things to turn out this way?

As someone who had bought and traded for multiple VWN higher UCs, I was gutted by the news that they would be phased out completely and pet styles would take over. After I sat with my ego a bit, I decided that I knowingly engaged in buying my dream pets and that spending 100s of USD chasing nostalgia for this game I played as a kid was worth it. TNT had finally caught up to us and destroyed the UC market overnight.

Days on.. I have been experiencing a thrill like no other collecting pet styles for the UCs I never got around to trading for or buying. I’m setting them all aside and trading NC for tokens and such and building a collection of all the art I love. I’m able to change my most valuable pets into this art on whim and find new ways to enjoy pet/NC trading.

I know your mileage may vary, and my feelings aren’t anyone else’s truth but.. I’m having a very good time playing Neo right now.

Eh I'm starting to accept that things are just out of my control, lol. I might as well enjoy Neo while it's still around and bask in my childhood nostalgia while it's still here. One day it might not be.

I wish they had done this earlier - even if it was not UC style and just other painted styles. I love the fact you can easily change your pets style around and not be punished for it. Instead of having the max number of pets for each different colour I like I can just have one pet and swap the skin every now and again. And I can lab one pet for stats without needing to worry.

They're only giving the old pet trophy to y7 and older, correct?
Are we just pounding our old garbage named UCs if they don't have the marker?

Personally, Im glad they did this mostly because I want old art pets and the ability to post in the boards again.

The first few years of UC was fine... then everyone became report happy. Started when people are trading... they will report to make sure the pet they already traded for is legit. Then they started reporting when they see you have a rare UC.... god I hate the PC.

They're only giving the old pet trophy to y7 and older, correct?
Are we just pounding our old garbage named UCs if they don't have the marker?

If the pet was born before 26th April 2007 (when pets were first converted), then they get the trophy.

I've seen a few people holding onto V/BN UCs for sentimental value but yes, this is the era of designer Neopets lol so if you want to reuse the NC style on a better named pet / a bet who actually has the trophy, you are free to do so!

Personally, I was disappointed but it wasn't unexpected. TNT is experienced at completely ignoring and gaslighting their userbase. So the news certainly wasn't a surprise.

That said, I admittedly felt anxiously excited to see what it would actually be like.

On one hand, I like it. The freedom of it and the ability to change your mind with a pet and change things up easily. But on another hand, I feel like I'm missing something. Pet-trading was a joy of mine for over a decade. The rush of trading UC/RW/RNs feels gone for me now. I know you can still trade RW/RNs but UCs really added some chaos and luck in there. Now it feels empty. Like it's missing a crucial element. It just feels like a huge part of my life has just disappeared, and so many are acting dismissive about it like this was obviously a good thing and people like me who loved UC trading were just pretentious a*holes who need to get over themselves.

I hadn't really commented on this board yet, but you've summed it up perfectly for how I feel too
I love it, and I dislike it at the same time. I enjoy the freedom, but feel empty from UC trading and shuffling etc
