It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

I've been ordering so much stuff on amazon to try and make my trip to Florida bearable through this heat. Got a fan you can put around your neck and some new shorts. I was thinking about ordering a new water bottle but I think I may have one that will fit in my backpack while walking around the parks. Me and the fam tried ordering fast passes for Universal and they were charging $200 each...which is more than the actual tickets to get in. It's fucking insane how expensive this stuff is.

So, due to this heat my family has been running the AC during the day AND has been ordering out because its way to hot to cook during the day.
With that though, money has been tight lol

Not saying its destroying us! Just that I hate Summer for so many reasons, and this is just one of them lol

We dont NEED AC and we can live with cooking normally though. But my mother is pretty sensitive to heat and summer time has always been such an annoying time

Got my power bill from the last two months and it was so cheap, I'm proud of myself lol. But I know it's just because I stopped using the heater because THE WINTER IS GONE AND IT'S SUMMER NOW
I'm so glad that sitting with just an electric fan on is enough for me and I rarely need to use the AC :3

I'm incredibly grateful that my air conditioning is pretty much guilt free energy-wise. We got solar panels shortly after moving in and so far every year they more than cover running the hot tub and air conditioning which were our biggest energy concerns. Feels like being spoiled to run my unit all day and a little at night after living in a place with no insulation that baked all day and often got hotter inside than outside somehow. It was pointless to even try to air condition that place and the bill was always insane when I tried.

I did learn some good ways to cool down from it though. If you're ever really over heating keep a damp towel in your freezer and you can just lay it on top of yourself to cool off, it's especially nice if you have a fan running on you too. You can also put ice packs in your arm pits or up against any major artery, it'll cool you down the fastest. Also if you have pets with outdoor water put the water dish full of water in the freezer until it's frozen solid and leave it outside for them to lick as it melts and if you have cats freeze Churu treats or other gogurt like treats and let them lick em, cat popsicles! Hopefully some of this is helpful for ya'll!

We're about to have a heatwave this week, and somehow (as much as I love the summer time heat) I'm not looking forward to it. I just know it's going to be sticky and gross since we don't have built in AC's. Buuttttt then I'm going away for the first time in like 3 years to Spain next month and I'm super excited! First summer holiday in 3 years! Ahhh Beach and cocktails here I come!

We're about to have a heatwave this week, and somehow (as much as I love the summer time heat) I'm not looking forward to it. I just know it's going to be sticky and gross since we don't have built in AC's. Buuttttt then I'm going away for the first time in like 3 years to Spain next month and I'm super excited! First summer holiday in 3 years! Ahhh Beach and cocktails here I come!

It looks like we are also due for a heatwave next week and I am also not looking forward to it. Being hot and sticky is not my favourite at all, and it means I can’t take the children outside to play for as long. Thankfully I have AC in my living room and bedroom at home, but the AC at work is hit and miss. More of a miss than a hit unfortunately lol which again, is going to be tough on my kids next week. They hate being hot because it makes them tired and uncomfortable and (understandably so) very whiny.
Spain sounds lovely but isn’t it also blazing hot there right now because it’s summer?

Gosh yeah heatwaves can be unbearable, especially in a country that has hardly any AC. Glad to know you've got AC access though! I thankfully have that at work but not at home ;u; Yes it most likely will be hot in Spain but I find that their heat is so different to what we get here in the UK, I don't know how to explain it but really hits differently here. Like we're never prepared for it, and all of our housing is built to insulate heat because we are generally a cold country, and oh my don't get me started on our public transport during the summer heatwaves, our train tracks melt and our underground tubes just generate tooooo much heat it's horrid x'D

I think we just get super humid weather here, like no breeze, no nothing. It's strange xD
