What are your unpopular neopets opinions?

I agree with so many of the opinions here and I don't wanna repeat, so I'm trying to come up with something new instead of just quoting everybody or repeating!

I have what I feel is an unpopular opinion about elaborate OCs/art/character design and wanting UCs vs converteds, but idk how to articulate it beyond "I don't get it and I don't believe the elusivity doesn't play a role" without coming off as condescending/aggressive, but I think I've talked about it in UYS and somebody explained and I was, like, "okay, I buy it", but I still don't feel it.

Nah I agree regarding elusivity. I'm sure a lot of people enjoy UCs mainly for the art aspect, but with PCers especially, the 'status symbol' having an UC pet gives you plays a huge role.

Coming from someone who genuinely loves the old art, sometimes I really do wish tnt just converted everything back when it happened.

Oh man, sorry for double posting but they NEED to stop giving out eggs/mps/magic plushies for draiks/krawks. There needs to be a hard-to-obtain pet that isn't an UC or else converted trading is literally just going to die out. Lab only colours just don't cut it.

I've gotta agree on both fronts. I get loving UCs for the unique art, and I haven't dropped a couple hundo on buying them for no reason. But my god, a lot of UCs are just buttfuck ugly, and people want em anyway because rare. Obviously even the ugliest UCs have their fans, but I'm not buying most of the "love" for a lot of them. Plushie quiggles aren't rare because people like them, that's all I'm sayin.

And converted trading is like pulling teeth. Yeah I can create a lot of these pets, but maybe I just want to trade some fodder for an existing one. Good luck finding someone who gives enough of a shit anymore, though.

On the off chance that my explanation will be different enough from the one you got before to be valuable, for me it’s like 70% character/expression, 30% nostalgia? As a kid before the conversion I had phases of picking colours for my pets that I never actually achieved, but it was the plan y’know “both ways” - first what was technically most appropriate (shoutout to my half angel half devil split uni), then what pet had like the right look in its eye for the vibe I wanted. Of those two criteria, it’s the second group I always ended up thinking were more fitting and keeping longer. The charm of the neo art was in the unique personality of each pet, which the conversion has kind of done away with (though there are exceptions). I now have a mix of UCs, babies/mutants/maraquans that retained their original looks, and the occasional new art pet thrown in because some of them are pretty cute. But converted species repeats feel weird now when they’re in the exact same pose with the exact same face.

I play subeta too where any pet is easy af to get and pick colour/species for characters in the same way - it isn’t necessarily “well this character is undead so let’s go with a graveyard pet”, it’s more “this undead character is emotionally exhausted and the art for that one glacier pet looks like it’s sighing in just the right way”

None of this to say elusivity never plays a role - for some people that’s like the main thing I think - but in terms of wanting an UC for a specific character I think it often doesn’t. I’ve given up on a number of my favourite high tier goals because they’re too elusive and I don’t wanna get caught.

Definitely agree with Blumaroos being overrated, I'm not sure why they became a go-to pet to customize.

My unpopular opinion: Having no Neofriends is where it's at. I don't want to log into Neopets to talk to a bunch of people, I want to sit all alone with my pretty pets and pretty NC things like a little digital cave goblin.

There have always been activities in my life that I prefer to make "alone time activities", and Neopets is one of them.

Also:

Transparent Aishas and Blumaroos are overrated and I get sick of seeing everyone and their grandma sporting them with ridiculously fancy customisations (that nine times out of ten will include some variation of the mint & aqua wig).

Also Chias are the best pet. I will always love those dumpy beans.

"Dumpy beans" will forever be how I think of Chias now.

The shoulders of all clothes for quad pets are an atrocity the only 'clothes' that look ok on them are cloaks and capes and shoes look awful on the majority of pets.
