1) What is the Halloween Costume Competition?

The Spooky Shindig Society has organized a Halloween Costume Competition to recognize Neopians with the most incredible costumes this year. With just a little creativity, imagination and a good sense of humour, you could be walking away with the coveted Halloween Costume Competition trophy. If you'd like to compete, then sign up for the costume competition right away.

2) How does the competition work?

In order to participate, first find out the theme of the ongoing round. Dress your Neopet up in accordance with the theme, and then click �Enter� to go to the contestants� area. From there, you can choose which Neopet you�d like to enter, and add a title or description to your entry. Click 'Enter this costume' and that's it!

3) Why should I participate in the competition?

You don�t want to disappoint the Spooky Shindig Society with a low turnout now, do you? If that�s not motivation enough, perhaps this will interest you - winners in each round will get the coveted Halloween Costume Competition trophy.

4) How long will the competition last?

The competition will last from 24 October to 5 November, 11:59:59 PM NST. The competition is divided into rounds, each round based on a different theme. Round 1 will last for 1.5 days, until 11:59:59 PM NST on 25 October and Rounds 2 � 11 will last for 24 hours each after that.

5) What are the themes for the different rounds in the competition?

To see the themes for each of the rounds, visit the Schedule page.

6) Can I submit a costume that references characters or concepts not in Neopia?

Everyone knows there is life on other planets, so unless specified, you do not need to limit yourself to Neopian places or characters.

7) Can I participate in this competition from my side account?

Yes, you can enter your Neopets to the Halloween Costume Competition from your side account, but you cannot use it for voting.

This is a terrible contest...same voting style as the customisation contest, the majority of the customisations are just random halloweeen style and nothing to do with the theme.

I was really hoping they would change up the style of voting :/ I was really excited about this contest at first but not so sure now that the voting is the same style as the customisation contest.

I wish we could vote all the way down to 0. Some of these are just "my (robot) pet (that's literally wearing nothing but its casings) is dressed as a robot for Halloween" or *spooky-painted pet with cheap NP background, no clothes* "It's a villain." Forget that they don't even fit the theme properly. I hate that I have to give these extremely low-effort looks even a 1. Please just let me skip past them. :/

I thought they'd at least improve upon some of the flaws of the customization spotlight. But no, nothing's changed.

I find it amusing that TNT decided to pull another contest with the exact same voting system as the regular customisation contest after the board folarah made on the NC where most people complained about said voting system. A few people even sent in tickets to the editorial (which haven't been answered), so it's not like TNT don't know a portion of the userbase dislikes the contest enough to be vocal about it.

Also, is there any way to see the winners of this contest?

The customization doesn't save when you enter, it shows whatever your pet's current customization is. So we're voting on "Heroes and Villains" but the pets are dressed up for whatever today's is, Spirit of Fall or whatever.

I've been entering for each one and can't believe how horrible this has been going... had I known the voting would not actually occur during the current theme (and that entires are just always going to reflect what's active), I would have just entered one costume per pet/only enter one for each theme.

I'm sure my shit looks ridiculous right now because my pets are currently dressed up for "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!" but people are expecting "Neopian Heroes and Villains" because voting never changed, lol

I don't know what I expected, for some reason I assumed either they'd take a "snapshot" of the current costumes (ridiculous idea, I know) or that voting would actually occur during the listed theme times, so if you changed your pet to the new theme it wouldn't matter cause that's what's now being voted for... agh
