Anyone mind sharing what happened last year? I know there were a lot of bans, which is very odd with this current neopets staff... but why? What were people doing wrong and what were people that didn't get banned doing right?

I think blacklisted is the more appropriate word here. No one was frozen, even for actual score sending. A bunch of people were blacklisted from sending scores and having them count to their rank/team after massive amounts of crying happened on the NeoBoards.

In addition to what Joe said, keep in mind, TNT themselves haven't actually addressed the blacklistings or anything in relation to last year's cup. So, there's very little that anyone knows as to why it happened to some and not to others.

We won't know the state of the games and score sending until the cup actually starts and testing can be done, but regardless the programmers always make sure to conduct extremely thorough testing before releasing anything for use.
