    It's Summertime!

    It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)

    So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

    I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

I was taught to do that from a young age, but it doesn't seem to work for me.

What has worked though is brewing a cup of chamomile tea (for drinking!) and press the used teabag after it's cooled against the bite. Vinegar seems to work too.

Oh I've never heard of the chamomile teabag or vinegar trick!
As much as I don't want to get a mosquito bite I'm kinda excited to try this?

@(you need an account to see links) omg I definitely used to do that as a kid haha! I'm asian but live in the states, but I think it is a fairly common thing people do universally. xD Nowadays though I prescribe to the very adult mindset of just don't fucking touch it (always yelling at my partner because he is a baby who can't NOT scratch when he gets a bite and I'm like you fool you're literally just making it worse) and once it's out of sight out of mind you forget it is there. But if I accidentally rub it with clothing or absentmindedly scratch my skin, I slap it REALLY hard to numb it and move on

@(you need an account to see links) further to our conversation earlier in this thread, I went to Aldi today to do our food shopping and look what they had in the freezer section!!! Grabbed a box of each haha. Ever since the unicorn ones were mentioned, my kids have been keen to try it.

omg @(you need an account to see links) these look delicious! Please post a review once you try them.

As for me, Im still on my quest for Melona bars. The store count is rising but they are still sold out everywhere.
Also discovered they have a purple yam flavour and I'm intrigued.

Has anyone tried the purple yam one before?

You literally just run a metal spoon under hot water and it press it onto your mosquito bites. It may sting a bit at first but then it feels better? It’s weird but it works for me and everyone I’ve had try it.

I've never heard of any of these tricks. I feel like the nail thing would have been a no-no for me because not knowing how clean they are and that sort of thing. I used to slap bug bites to help the itch. I also use to use afterbite, but at the time and even now I swear the only thing it does is make it sting for a few minutes, which I've found more bearable than itching.

I wont lie, itching bug bites feels sooooooo good.. but having them turn into scabby gross-ness is not a vibe.

@(you need an account to see links) nooo I haven't seen purple yam in my area 😳 but I have had purple potato flavor drinks/smoothies before and I like it! It ends up kind of just being a fairly mellow vanilla-y flavor in my opinion, with a bit of starchiness (but not in a bad way xD) depending on the amount of the potato inclusion. But the color and aesthetic... perfection 😩👌

Crazy! I'll have to try that next time! I don't mind a stinging, it's itching that drives me crazy.

Thank you @Orbit for the Jackalope Ryu
