Allow me to drop by with my nerd flag high and help those who may not know well enough how to categorize the boards because they need a better example of what each alignment encompasses.
Here's a helpful, looong article:
(you need an account to see links)
And here's a TLDR/Examples:
Lawful Good: "Always does the right thing." Believes in society rules and the "greater good." Can be inflexible, arrogant, self-righteous.
Superman, Robocop, classic Paladins
Neutral Good: Will break the rules if they feel justified, and will do their best to help others - but because they want to not because society tells them to. They care more about upholding Good than rule/law, and can adopt Chaotic/unpredictable behavior if pushed.
Gandalf, Spiderman, Harry Potter
Chaotic Good: Rebels and breaks rules to do what is right and may even try to bring about change. Doesn't care about the success of other Good people, because sometimes their success was earned within a system that the Chaotic Good person disagrees with.
Robin Hood, Luna Lovegood, Mary Poppins
Lawful Neutral: Likes order, rules, and organization for their own sake. Not concerned about morality, and so can appear from the outside as Lawful Evil.
Judge Dredd, Space Marines, Amanda Waller
True Neutral: "I'd rather not pick a side." Pragmatic rather than emotional; usually they'll make a choice that is most convenient or least hassle in any situation. They can come across as apathetic or indecisive.
Lara Croft, Malcolm Reynolds, Rincewind
Chaotic Neutral: "Free spirit." They don't like being told what to do, and avoid restriction, following tradition, etc. Most of the time they're more likely to take a Good action than an Evil action because it will result in a an easy time/better outcome for them.
Captain Jack Sparrow, Cat Woman, Guybrush Threepwood
Lawful Evil: Strictly follows a code of laws and/or traditions; enforces a system of control through force.
Darth Vadar, Lex Luther, Dolores Umbridge
Neutral Evil: Selfish, driven by their own wants; doesn't believe that following the law or tradition makes you a better person. Will make and then sever allegiances. Ultimately it's all about them.
Jabba the Hutt, Bowser, Cruella de Vil
Chaotic Evil: "Does not play well witih others." Unpredictable. Spreads chaos or evil because they enjoy it. They are out to destroy everything - order, life, tradition, freedom, and choice.
The Joker, Voldemort, Bellatrix Lestrange
Now go.
