I've been following this story at a distance. Condolences to the families impacted by this tragedy.

No matter who or what is at fault it is a massive tragedy.

I do echo those opinions about there being more media coverage of this than other also important (if not more distressing) storied in the world. Sadly we are in the world of capital.media.

I'm really hating how the media are handling it in general. My dad works with people who wreck dive (not to these depths usually) for preservation reasons and according to them there's about a 99.9 percent chance the sub just imploded and everyone was killed instantly - which in this scenario is honestly not even close to the worst case.
I came here to post the same thing about the boat full of migrants - news article (you need an account to see links). I had no idea until today. Some estimates say 500 people.

With the wreckage now floating up from the implosion, at least they have their answers now. I wonder if the company is going to be held liable for crazy amount of money that was invested in trying to rescue them, but somehow I doubt it. It's just an awful situation.

I was completely unaware of the migrant story until just now, that's so sad.

but wow, 500people on a fishing boat sounds like a disaster waiting to happen as well. almost the same, if not worse, than the ocean gate incident.

but I'm guessing it isn't reported as widely as the 'Titanic expedition gone wrong' incident due to the fact that the accident actually happened while smuggling people (or refugees). it isn't a really proper mode of transportation and it might have implications on countries relationships if it isn't reported correctly in the right context.

but I do agree that they are all tragic accidents and should have the same amount of reports on local/international news. but I guess they have their own reasons to not cover a type of news over another.

these are my own personal opinions using my own logic and thinking. not standing on anybody side politically. lol just wanted to make this known.

and again, rip to all the people in these accidents.

It's disgusting and sad how often these large companies behave like this. There are countless stories of tragedy after tragedy because a company couldn't be bothered to spend a bit more money on safety and think of their employees as PEOPLE and not money machines.

Yeah reading about the CEO and his approach along with the whistleblower was like watching the brakepad fall off of a car on the highway... It's a shame he took 4 others with him.

Definitely, absolutely ridiculous he could get away with this and such a tragedy.

I'm not a lawyer, nowhere close. But I read they signed waiver forms that mentioned "death" over three times. How can it even be legal to offer a service that has such a high chance of killing you?
