Has anyone ever used cK as a job reference or past experience?

I am not planning on doing this, it's also not a joke, it's a hypothetical. So don't worry.
I just wondered, like, some of us have over a decade of sales experience because of this forum and ones before it, like, I feel like that'd be a major qualification for sales job wouldn't it?
Like, "bruh I sell fucking neopets, I can sell anything you have in stock."
If I were a sales manager and someone was all like "Yeah I can sell neopets during one of the worst recessions in history" I'd be impressed by that idc.

That's hilarious. I'm trying to imagine someone explain selling highly-coveted, "UC", virtual pets to an old white guy named Gary in management.

No gary you see the base design is different that's why they're special. It's the old art, before you could put clothes on the neopet. No Gary, it's not a real cat it's called a "kacheek" no no that's not the wookie planet from star wars gary it's a neopet.

Not clraik or any other neo related websites, however I did use another website that I was running as experience for a management level position and I got it 🤣🤣.

I just used it as a reference about how my team was 6 close individuals who each managed 10+ individuals and we had a team of close to 70-80 people. I gave references for them as well, and when they hired me on. One of the hiring managers asked what type of website it was, and I said it was a non profit.

It was a HP related website LOL

    Thank you Hellraid <3

I'm cracking up at this thread lmfao. The closest I've ever come to using Neopets/anything Neo adjacent in a professional capacity was referencing some "fundamental HTML coding knowledge" for an internship in college, no specifics as to where said knowledge was derived from

I did joke to my realty agent when going through the home buying process that this hoop-jumping and bureaucracy ain't shit, I used to apply for pets for adoption on neopets dot com, okay. she did not get the reference.

You could definitely phrase it with online marketing jargon, tbh.

Like, "bruh I sell fucking neopets, I can sell anything you have in stock."
Phrasing your experience like that is how you lose out, in most cases. Unless the interviewer is a member here?

You can certainly leverage your skills/experiences acquired from this some stuff you do in this community. Programming, selling, communicating, etc.

Use ChatGPT to help you come up with a great description for consistently selling in our marketplace, with quality services and whatnot.

Off the top of my head...

Let's say you're a coder that helps with the Mystery Pic each week.

    You're capable of:

    - Organizing
    - Communicating
    - Working with file systems with many folders/images and such
    - Manipulating tens of thousands of images
    - Capable of working well with a team/others
    - Recognizing patterns

I came up with this really quickly, but doesn't that sound better than "I wrote a program that helps with the Mystery Picture for Neopets"?

I don't see why you need to bring up cK/Neo at all. It's the skills and experience you possess that the employer is more interested in.

    This is a helpful answer.
To me bringing up CK would tell the employer specifically what I dealt in, and how I can do it and why. to me it strikes the idea that to most people in sales "selling neopets" is such an absurd concept that selling pixels to people would be impressive to people who don't understand the complexity of the neopets economy.
Although this helped me on a deep level and maybe I'll go beyond some freelance shit if I learn to present what I can do in a more direct and specific way like you said.

I can see how you could list some of the skills you learned along the way, you'd just have to embellish while being intentionally vague.
Skill I got from doing neo stuff doesn't directly influence what I do as a career, but I've used the skills in other areas.

For example, after creating and running multiple external neo selling sites, I have since in the past run multiple online businesses not related to neo at all.
The skills setting up online shops, the coding, images, running inventory, coupons, mailing lists, customer service, working with suppliers - all of that can be utilized in ways outside of neo too.

Hell, even negotiating and working with buyers who I ended up selling my online businesses too and providing after purchase support.

It's really all in how you phrase it and what kind of job you're after!
    What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left
