To Our Angels

Holidays are spent with the special people in your life! People you can hug and kiss, laugh and cry, create and continue traditions with.

But we all have someone special who has passed away and we wish we could send them a Christmas card and share this time with them. I know I have!

If you could write your loved one a letter for Santa to deliver, what would it say?

Dear Kyra Jade (forever 18 days old),
I hope you are proud of me so far! I have kept my promise to you thus far and will continue to keep that promise! I have graduated with my Master's degree and am pursuing my dream career. It isn't easy, and I won't lie, I am so scared to fail. There are still days I wish I was with you than on earth. But i'll join you soon enough! I have applied to a bunch of reality shows to chase that adventure. Daddy and I love each other so much and we are so strong together. We started a new Christmas tradition in the new home we bought. We wish you could be here to join in on building our oreo cookie christmas house. Momy and daddy love you so much and miss you! Merry Christmas baby girl!

Dear daddy,
I miss you so much! I wish you were here! You left this world way too soon! It's sad how you left this earth and you didn't get to see me graduate with my master's degree... BUT I DID IT!!! I know you had your doubts that I would even return to college when I dropped out in 2006, but those words never left my head. I knew I would prove you wrong. I did, but I couldn't reserve a seat for you because you grew in your angel wings as was called away from this earth. I hope you are looking down on me and are proud of me. I worked hard to get where I am and hubby and I bought a house. We wish you could come and enjoy this home with us, the street name is your nickname you had when you were younger, and your motorcycle license, Spitz. I know you helped us get this home! So thank you. Keep watching over me and my family! I love you so much daddy!

I know writing a letter to your loved one who is no longer on earth can be a touchy thing, so if you do or don't share, just know you aren't alone. We should never forget those who left this earth who we cherish and loved so much! And while you may not see them, they are there with you in your heart! It's definitely hard to think about, at least for me, without shedding some tears, but whether you cry or not, you are strong!!!!

I just got back from visiting my mum's grave. Every time I visit I write her a letter (I won't share here as it's all personal stuff) and leave it for her. I also brought her a little christmas tree. She loved the holidays and it hasn't been the same at all without her, but I hope one day I'll have family of my own who I can make this time of year magical for.

I miss her desperately, and always will.

We never did much on Christmas together besides wish each other a merry day, but lately I've been thinking of you often. Essentially every time I think about my upcoming wedding...and the fact that you won't be there. It feels so empty to think that you won't be there on the guest list. It's odd to not be able to text you randomly about a dream I've had or a worry on my mind. You were always my go-to. It's only been 5 months since your passing, but I still can't get used to it. I figured you'd always be there...in my corner. We have about a decade of Facebook/Messenger messages to go through, and luckily you always left voice messages (which at the time I found so odd, but now I'm thankful for), so I can hear your voice if I need to.

I've been crying about you a lot lately. Feeling the loss in my chest every time I hear a song you sang at karaoke, think of Archer or Naruto, or walk into a Subway. Memories of you are everywhere, part of my every day life. I miss you so much, buddy, and I'm so sad I won't have you in my life for this next chapter. You'd have been a great uncle to my kids. And we were supposed to go play airsoft together this year, remember? I know you were surrounded by friends and at your favorite place when you passed, but I'll always wish I could've been nearer to you then. At least our last visit was a great one.

It was a emotional day for me, my dad and mom. It just ruined our christmas yesterday because we loved the little guy/girl (we couldn't tell what it was aha)

Can't believe it's been almost sixteen years already without you. Sometimes it feels like that sixteen years is a lifetime, other times it feels like it was just yesterday. If I could tell you one thing, it'd be to let you know that Judith, L.J., and the rest of us are all doing okay but we miss you so much. I'm sure you'd get a huge kick out of knowing that Judith and I have become good friends. I went to Napa with her last month when she threw me a surprise bachelorette party. In July I was at her father's funeral. It's funny how things turn out. We'll keep looking out for each other until we get to see you again.

Love you so much, old friend. You were the first friend I ever made that was friends with me, not the person I pretended to be to try and fit in with other people. It's wild to look back over the past decade and half and see what an impact you made on my life just by being your ridiculous self and letting me be myself too. Doesn't matter how long you've been gone, you'll always be one of the most important people in my life.

I've watched so much magnificently trashy schlock and think of you every time. If there is an afterlife and we get to share it together I cannot fucking wait to show you Boardinghouse. Until then, all my love.

p.s. Please look around for a certain border collie/aussie mutant mix and take care of him for me too in the meantime. He's the best dog ever, you'll like him.

thanks for the thread, this was really cathartic! I think about the conversations I wish I could have with lost loved ones but never write them out. It feels nice.

My baby, my first kitty ever as an adult, ran away after my momma stepped on her on accident when the door was open to sign for a package. We keep hoping she will return, but I don't think she will. It crushes my heart I lost my kitty of 12 years. I'm so sorry for your kitty, I know the pain.

I just wanted to thank everyone for sharing their letters/cards/pictures of their loved ones no longer with us on earth! The reason I started this thread is because I always feel so down and sad during this time because I never got to celebrate holidays with my daughter. I go through a seasonal depression around this time for wishful daydreaming. I know I am not alone in this and really wanted anyone to know they aren't alone either. It warms my heart to read the letters and see pictures and it really helped me get through Christmas! I hope it helped someone else as well.
