personally wouldn't be surprised if they do the 50% sale during the next nc uc release batch... but when that happens is a big ol shrug emoji 🤔 if the next release batch is really soon, perhaps not. but if the next release batch is a ways away from now (like, half a yr+) then I could see them doing it again.

I feel tricked cause I went and dropped a bunch of money the last time they said the sale would be ending (Feb 14) and last minute stocked up on them. Then it was extended another week and so I did the same last night thinking it will be done now and they’d switch out the styles. Just to find at midnight they were still the same and still discounted.

WTH TNT. Communicate these things

People on the boards have been stirring up the idea that they might release Royal / Plushie / Pirate the second this sale ends and it's just getting people's hopes up with no actual grounds.

Firstly their post on FB implied that only one of those colours will be released in the next batch.

And Luna stated on discord (of course, because that's where all the official news is) that they'll give plenty of warning before they switch out the current colours.

I'm expecting 3 / 4 batch releases yearly, probably swapping one colour out for another (so not retiring grey/dari/faerie for roy/plush/pir but for grey/dari/roy then grey/roy/pir etc). I want them to release royal next, but I actually think they'll hold out on that one the longest because holding back the most popular style will 1. keep people's interest up and 2. mean people will probably buy more styles in the meantime, if their pets aren't their 'goal' style yet.

I also think the price increase today will be a test to see how many last minute tokens are bought at this price point, and as long as some are they'll probably try this as a new sale price in future. Which doesn't surprise me, 50 percent off is a heavy discount and neopets hates discounting.

That's looking at it with my business head on ofc. Personally I'd be delighted if they released all three styles tomorrow, but I do wish people on the boards would stop whipping up expectations without reason to.

I think it would make more sense to just swap out all 3 colours at once and replace it with 3 new colours, rather than replacing one by one. We already have the same colours for months and it wouldn’t make sense to only swap 1 colour out since the other 2 colours are already saturated enough. There won’t be any reason to use SSS and gamble the 1/3 chance either. To drive sales it would also help to have 3 entirely new colours so that people would be more incentivised to spend.
