There are parts of the site restricted to a certain user base... so I guess it depends on your definition of a social niche.
Some are obtainable with money, reputation or age apparently.

I guess the real question is...
Then why have one at all?
Especially if it's as anticlimactic as it's made out to be and so labor intensive to get anyone approved... I just dont see the point.

I have to respectfully disagree with the concept of age verification being an issue. Unless VIP is gifted or bought through a parent account, the VIP subscription is pretty much the only age verification needed as paypal doesn't allow accounts to be owned by peoples under 18 per their terms of service. There used to be student accounts and paypal didn't really care about this back in the day but as the interwebs changed, paypal has pretty much locked it down to 18, be who you say you are, or they close your account. In the case of fraudulent activity in terms of age verification, I don't see how cK would be liable in any stance for someone lying about their age via a fraudlent paypal account purchase. If a parent makes the purchase for the minor then that's on them for not reviewing the material. This is why pretty much every site with adult content is blocked by put in a credit card which is less of a verification process than utilizing paypal as one's only payment method for VIP. Not saying that there's some other agenda for keeping it private, just that the argument doesn't make sense to me since I run a gaming server where we have NSFW boards and channels and have faced this issue as well.

So the reason is "we can't be bothered"? It's not like anyone is going to change their birthday on their profile just to get access there. And it's not like your birthday can be changed by yourself anyway, only an admin can. And it's not like anyone will be making a new account just to get access there and it's also not like you wont see through that.

Don't you think you're oversimplifying it a bit, @(you need an account to see links)?

We're not an army of Facebook, Instagram or Twitter employees, so fielding a bunch of requests to access a forum which contains sensitive discussions and material is difficult. We have to verify each person, then watch out to make sure that they don't misuse the forum or harass the people participating in it. There have been enough incidents in the past to warrant keeping the forum restricted to an intimate number of known and trustworthy individuals, so whittling it down to "can't be bothered" is a little harsh.

I dont really know what past incidents have happened and I'm sensitive enough to know that there are higher things at stake with an adult forum than a Trade forum, but if you guys put half as much effort as you do moderating the Trade section...

Excuse me if there are other things about moderating an adult forum that I'm not considering, though. I dont mean to step on any toes

    Adult section?

I really didnt intend for this board to become an argument. I was just curious. Im sorry.

Don't sweat it you guys. You have every right to ask questions. We care about all of you very much, and we want to make sure that everyone is having a safe and enjoyable time in our community. The adult forum has both ethical and legal responsibilities that make running it very complicated, but it's not altogether off limits. We'll open up invites soon. Please give us a bit of time to work out a strategy for running things more smoothly.
