Any update on Battledome fixes?

All the old bd files are still there in the folder at neopets.com/battledome/ but they have a rewrite rule that redirects all requests to the new dome folder

I think part of the reason they refuse to do anything with bd is because the code itself is horrendous. Its the type of code only the person who created it would understand and belongs in /r/programminghorror. It probably applies to the legacy bd code too, afaik Viola and Snarkie were the primary programmers for the old bd and they're long gone

Ha, a good way to make yourself indispensable to a company is to make code that nobody else can touch. Didn't work for Snarkie and viola though lol.

I did forget that the old battledome didn't have daily prizes. I probably wouldn't bother with BD in the absence of reward.

Also, the faerie abilities were revamped, and the new ones are a bit ham-fisted. The freezing abilities in particular probably wouldn't make for very pleasant pvp

At this point, it'd probably be better if TNT created a new BD from scratch that incorporates newer features like prizes and abilities.

They need to incorporate NC in the BD. I know a lot of BDers dont like it but the only way the BD gets the fix it deserves is if it makes money. It doesnt right now so its at the bottom of the priority list.

That might also be easier for them. The current battledome never really 'worked'. It was in beta and then it was broken.

Yikes, that makes me nervous. You're not advocating for a "pay to win" model, in which you spend NC to get more powerful items?

Maybe an NC only battle arena. You can only enter with NC to fight those challengers, and receive NC/wearables as prizes for beating them. Like the Premium faerie.

At this point I dont care. Its been over 10 years without a proper fix! If it takes that to get the BD fix, so be it. You adapt after that.

Honestly yeah. The BD has been not touched for 10 years and anything at this point to bring it back to life I'm okay for even if they implement a NC area. There are already NC BD weapons in the mall but you can use those in any match one time to get a wearable. They could possibly do a different arena for NC only and you could fight NC NPCs (Noda's Fortune Cookies, Hugo from DWs etc) but again this is a reach since they'd have to add onto the current BD
