This might be silly, but a song that helps me relax when I get overwhelmed is something from Animal Crossing
The past 2 months have been very hard on my, and this music has been such life saver for me

I personally think that this song might be more on the 'feeling sad' area as this song reminds me of my grandma who I had lost to cancer back in 2003.
Though it may be a bit on the sad side, it does make me feel happy because it will always remind me of my grandma who I love and will forever carry on the memories I've had with her.
Now to put it in a more positive light;
The following song is something that I always sang at family parties whenever we brought out the karaoke machine.
Thinking back, each one of my cousins/family members had a specific song that we would sing when it was our turn to sing.
Paper Roses was one of them, and the other was 'My Heart Will Go On' by Celine Dion.
I honestly wish I could go back and relive all of those moments, because being around family brings me so much joy.

Is it me or do most songs nowadays have really sad lyrics, but are still super upbeat? Maybe that's just what I'm vibing too idk...
Totally! Numb Little Bug is one I've listened to (if you've heard of it) that has a heavier/sad meaning despite how upbeat and catchy it is. So many artists now I find are able to put those heavier meanings into songs that we can kinda relate to really easily. What kind of songs do you listen to?
Really enjoy dermot kennedy, Noah Kahan, and NF quite a bit.

Dreamcatcher's July 7th
July 7th is based on the Qi Xi festival which means "the night of the sevens" because is celebrated on the 7th day of the 7th month and it’s basically the Chinese Valentine’s day.
It commemorates the Chinese tale of Niulang the Cowherd and Zhinu the Weaver girl (which represent the stars Altair and Vega respectively)
The story says that Zhinu was daughter of Xiwangmu, the Queen of the Heaven. One day she came to earth to take a bath and there she met Niulang, they felt in love.

How did I not see this thread sooner?!
This is exactly my aesthetic for music. Feel sad, needs to relax... listens to sad music to relax but it just makes it worse
I always tell people to play this one at my funeral on repeat. This song just... wow. 20 years later and it still puts me to tears. Seeing AFi play this album front to back on the 20th anniversary of the album release and hearing this live? I was a FUCKING MESS. To be fair though, AFI has many songs that would fit this category of chill but sad music, haha.
Some other honorable mentions:
I have more that keep popping up in my mind. If you can't already tell, I am an elder emo haha.

thank you for the gay rights peo ♥ @honeycomb ♥
Ooh interesting! I don't think I've ever listened to Dermot or Noah, but NF has some I've listened to that hit deep. Sasha Sloan is another that has songs that are really easy to listen to but the meanings bring a lot of sadness/that realness.
This one gets me because while it is sad, it's very human.
This is another that puts into words a lot of what we all feel while a little sad.
