Damn. I didn't know Tim Burton was... like that. That's terrible. It's a shame because his movies are awesome.

There are 2 movies I watch every year around Halloween (you need an account to see links) Hocus Pocus which has been a tradition since I was a kid and (you need an account to see links) Trick R Treat which I found during a movie store going out of business sale years ago and fell in love with it on first watch.

Yeah sorry to be the bearer of bad news... if it helps you can rest assured that incredible people like Selik are the true visionary behind those movies. Burton can huff my farts and as far as I'm concerned he didn't make those movies.

Like, in hindsight, his live-action stuff is incredibly white.

And yeah! Henry Selick is incredible!

Yeah it's super white unfortunately and there's literally no good reason for it. Hopefully this new movie starts a trend of creepy animated films with diverse skin tones AND inspires poc to get into the punk scene which has historically been pretty white washed even though afro-punk inspired basically all the core punk bands people love. Anyway I'll get off my soapbox I could talk about alt communities and the racial gatekeeping they do all day.

Almost forgot to add I suspect Tim Burton was one of those shitlord goth kids who thought you couldn't be goth without white skin and it makes me want to karate chop his throat. Ok now I'm done.

Kind of wish I didn't just learn this about Tim Burton.

I don't know if Over the Garden Wall has been said yet, but I like to rewatch it every fall season. It's got the best fall vibes and is really well done overall

@(you need an account to see links) That show has always really appealed to me, but never got around to watching it. All the suggestions here, I'm probably gonna finally watch it this fall and will report back.

@(you need an account to see links) its very quick. I believe total runtime for all episodes is like 1.5 hours or so. I hope you love it! It's so comforting and perfect to me.

I didn't know that about Tim Burton either. Ooof.

I have a black female friend who is still super goth and she's also a major metal head, and she told me once she has gotten shit for it from white goths. Fuck them.
She rocks the look better than they do.

Man I've been wanting to run a D&D campaign that is inspired by Over the Garden Wall. I'm working on the setting in my head...eventually I'll run it lol.
