I mentioned in the (you need an account to see links) thread, but I have long suspected that there would be a way to unconvert pets since I imagine it's as simple as a "converted: true/false" flag against each pet in the database (that's a total guess, but it stands to reason), and given Neopets track record of poor security I would have bet on there being an exploit to be able to manipulate that.

Looks like someone had already found that exploit, I'm just slightly disappointed that that someone wasn't me and it sounds like the exploit has been fixed now

Why would it "drive the neo economy"? If anything a flood of UC pets would absolutely kill the pet trading scene as previously-valuable pets are rendered worthless. This bug will probably put a dent in it anyway, but it seems to have been just obscure enough to not seriously impact things. What would people consider valuable anymore other than RWN and BD pets?

If people had to have their pets be the same color/species as the pet they wanted to un-convert (so like a converted darigan aisha -> UC darigan aisha) it would have people spending on paintbrushes and morphing potions. People would still trade for names. It would also raise the prices of morphing potions/paintbrushes, driving players to play more games to earn money or utilize other features of the site. People would still trade for 1L/2L/3L/4L RW/RN. I didn't say this is how I think it should be done, I have and like plenty of other ideas, but honestly, I don't really care how they do it. I don't really care about the trading scene either. That was never meant to be a focus for the site. It wasn't even an option for how many years? I don't consider trading a part of the actual neopets economy, personally.

But I really think, even if they gave everyone on site 10 UCs out of nowhere, that the PC would still find a way to fixate and "raise the value" of something. Whether its minimum letters, real world, real name, compound names, cap named, uncapped names, the PC will find a way to bring something to the forefront.

This sounds like maybe somebody who was involved with this activity got cut off and are perhaps upset about it. Odd that they have an exact number of pets that this has happened to, doesn’t make much sense otherwise.

Can confirm that this has definitely happened in the past - but not aware of it happening currently. These was a way, WAY back, to gen literally anything. Give me a username, and BAM, 1,000,000,000 NPs could appear in your bank or on hand. Similar story with items. It was a lot of fun when it was still working but to my knowledge it got shut down. Very possible that somebody has another exploit that allows this to happen though.

Realistically, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest. Honestly though, good for whoever is potentially doing it. A great money maker and a great way to put pets into circulation for those who really want those dream pets. OP on that board talking about how they wanted their dream pet forever but hating on people who get them through other means. Would be a shame if somebody went on their account and messed with it (not condoning, hypothetical lol).

People like the OP are the reason the UC pet market are alive and well. Let’s go ahead and report every cool pet that comes along and then piss and moan about how they can’t find this or that pet anywhere. The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze and clearly hasn’t changed one bit.

No, not at all. Most people want them because of their rarity and the toxic environment that is the pound chat. Many that I sold to in the past get a pet and park it on their account to customize, create content around, and simply enjoy.

In some circumstances I’d say yes, but not in a game like this.
