uc paint brush update?

a user on the pc stopped by Neo's booth at SDCC and talked with them about their plans for the "uc paint brush"

basically UCs have varying line weight and they're redrawing them to make them look more uniform?
i'm not invested in new UCs, so i don't have much of an opinion on this. i will say though that i do not trust the current neopets artists to make anything look good or uniform

I guess that's one way to keep the original UCs distinct from the paintbrush version. Without letting myself get too hopeful, I'm encouraged that they said "all the old art" since I'd very much like UC art that didn't survive the conversion. More waiting and seeing I guess. Thank you for sharing this here, I would have missed it otherwise.

Echoing Lyrichord, that is the only hopeful line out of the write up imo. If they're just redrawing the standard UCs, why? We like them because they're dated!

yeah, their misunderstanding of why people want UCs in the first place is so.. baffling to me
if they do bring back ALL the old art, i'd be so much more interested. but i think that's more work than they're willing to take on

i guess i get it to an extent but also this seems like such a massive waste of time and/or resources when they could just use the og uc art? i feel like there are for sure better ways they vould use that kind of man power lol

Honestly, they cannot even keep their new customisation items or paint brush colors standardized... colored line art? black line art? thin? thick? shading??? I do not have high hopes of this being well executed. Really fucking annoying after all this they think THIS is a good idea of all things... literally no one asked for the art to be changed. Just give us what we have already as it is and literally 99% of people will be appeased.

It is entirely possible that the original files for the UC art was lost and none of the copies they have are clean enough to use.

true, i hadn't thought of that. honestly i figured they would just do it via the same method of unconverting when they create replicas and what not
