Could anyone here by the way explain to me what TNT can actually do against the hacker? I mean, everything is already up for sale. Can they still close off Neo for future hacks?

This happened in the old db leak from 2016, accounts with parenthesis in the name would glitch the data and display each field as the users profile name after the first field

with this being the 3rd data breach publicly announced, it makes you think how many times the public wasnt notified.

I guess it could happen, but changing it now won't matter for the existing dump

Sorry this is really funny. Its like that people that think by posting a whole post about not concenting to your data being use will stop people from copying your stuff

I am sure it has been said in one way or another, but I do think a good portion of the reactions we are seeing from people outside of our forum are a result of fearmongering from people who also do not know what will happen or do not understand in full what is currently going on. While no truly harmful information is being spread and suggested by people making PSA posts on Neopets and in the FB or Discord, I feel like the loud voices who are showing their panic are causing mass hysteria... yes, personal data and cybersecurity are both very important things, but I wish certain voices would tone down as they are only causing people to panic more.

In both 2013 and 2016, we did lose members from that leak as they were disappointed and scared with the site security, but this time around is no different. It really does not help that everyone has been on edge about "hackers" (more or less... especially considering there are very few people who are stupid enough to touch very active accounts) more than ever lately, so the population thinks that it is their pets and NC that people with this data want, when really in such an early stage as this it is more about personal data OUTSIDE of Neopets.

Anyway, I know we have gone over that time and time again, but the fearmongering off site really needs to stop. Spreading information on how to feel safe and calm (as possible) in a situation like this is one thing, but threatening to quit, telling people not to trade pets on the PC, saying people's banks will be hacked tomorrow if they do not change their Neopets password, etc... it is all too much.

Im more worried about who may buy the database and what they do with it.

If they get the information they want and then sell it to other sites that have require subscriptions to access the data - it will just be the 2013 leak all over again.

I somewhat agree. At this point anyone who is actively using the site is already aware of the situation, and continuing to discuss it with theories does not help anyone actually be more secure on the site.

This is also a big concern for me; the idea of someone using the info (until they’ve exhausted what they want from it) and then dumping it online somewhere. Obviously IRL accounts are most important but, ugh, the last breach took a lot from everyone and it would suck to have that happen again

The best thing to do is relax and remain calm. Getting worked up never helped anyone.
