I love Batman, so he gets my totally unbiased and well-thought-out vote.

Besides, if things are going bad, he can always flip out a cellphone and call Supes for backup.

Batman is a martyr-kind of hero. Someone who thinks taking the blame and fooling people by hiding his motives and identity is "saving" people.

Iron Man, on the other hand, discloses his identity. Why? Because he can take responsibility for his actions. If people need help, they know who to call and not just pray some Iron Man will appear. If he screws up, he owns up to it.

That's the difference between the two and why Iron Man is far more superior for me.

+ the better girlfriend (Pepper Potts for the win! Although I hear this goes differently in the comic books....?)

What makes you believe that Bruce doesn't take responsibility for his actions? :o

Batman hides his identity to protect the people he loves and cares about and it's common sense cause it's just plain silly to go, "hey lets let all my dangerous enemies know who I am and where they can find me". Look at what happened to Tony in Ironman 3 - he almost dies, he loses his suits and everything else that could have helped him stop the Mandarin sooner, and Pepper almost got blown up. Also, Bruce hides his identity so that the other people he trains can take the mantle after him and he doesn't want people to associate Batman with just Bruce Wayne - he wants Batman to be the symbol of justice that isn't confined to one man/woman.

Batman doesn't need to shoot lasers from his hands to have a kick ass suit when he himself is a powerful weapon - the suits there to protect him and his identity while he kicks ass Superman considers Bruce to be the most dangerous human on Earth not because of his suit, but because of his muthafucking BRAINS and it also helps that he's a martial art master so he would beat Ironman in a hand to hand.

I always love getting into questions like this, but the biggest problem is you need to set the parameters of the match-up. People seem to think "Batman with prep time" is pretty much unbeatable, but that being said I think with enough prep time he could take out Iron Man. How much prep time would be the question though. The longer the match goes the more likely Batman would be to win. But Iron Man could utilize prep time quite well too... So I'm sure there's a line somewhere on the timeline that would divide between win or loss for Iron Man.

I still voted Iron Man. I think Captain America could beat up Batman and I think Iron Man could beat up Captain America... So based on that I'm giving it to Iron Man. But there's so many facets of each character! Ugh.
