Wasn't Jellyneo's April Fools joke this year centered around announcing that they were making NFTs? Some clown at TNT really saw that and said "wow, that DOES sound like a good idea, actually!"

can someone please explain NFTs to me like I'm an especially ignorant 5 year old child? Because I read a whole article on them earlier today that gave me the impression it's digital images, usually ugly, that people spend tons of money on to "own" something that in reality anyone can take a screenshot of for free. And surely that can't be correct?

edit - okay I actually went back and skimmed the thread and I wasn't the only one with this question it turns out. Not surprising I suppose as this concept is FUCKING BAFFLING

I hate NFTs and I think this is just a silly cash grab. It is kind of insulting. Mostly, I do not understand why they are randomised? Awfully. As opposed to your own pet.

@(you need an account to see links) I am but a humble owner of possibly two brain cells, but I tried to imagine what kind of clown-ass scenario someone would actually turn a profit from attempting to use this in an actual real life example.

Someone please tell me if I have this all wrong

I think they're randomized to be like generative art. There was also a big thing called CryptoKitties a few years ago that got popular with randomly generated cats, some of which got super valuable.

i would have loved pet slots instead for the pets i actually own in game instead of fake ones :^)
