The random event one means that you are guaranteed a random event every day, just login once each day to get the event.

Can you chose which lab colour you get? If they let you pick the one you want it would be cool, but knowing them it will be random and I'll get sponge or something like that.

As I posted earlier, you can choose nearly any colour (seemingly anything but Ice).
