What do you mean by PC known?

I was browsing the trades forum and I realized that the term "PC known" could mean a few different things. Does it mean the pet in question was traded for -- recently? Years ago? Does it mean the account with the pet has posted on the PC recently? Something else?
A lot of my UCs have come through trading but with an originally purchased pet (or a purchased pet once or twice removed). That's my inclination of what "PC Known" would indicate, but I'm curious to hear what others think.
I'd also be curious if there are examples where being PC known actually could work against you. I avoid the PC but could definitely see some PCers keeping a list of UC P/R/D/Ks and checking in on them every once in a while.

Also if this has been posted before, my apologies. Search weirdly yielded no results and I checked guides/stickied threads but couldn't find a clear definition of what PC known entails.

PC known (Correct me if i'm wrong someone) is known to the pound chat. You aren't bringing up a P/R/D/K out of no where that the pound chat has never seen, or wouldn't get suspcious about.

PC'ers used to like to call people out, if they knew X pet has always been on an inactive account, and then all of a sudden you have it.

If you had a PC known pet, and look decent, you know it's more legit and looked like a real trade.

I guess if it's known to the PC then that implies it's been traded at some point.

As far as my knowledge goes is that the PC Known term stands for an unconverted pet that has been recently offered/traded or seen on the PC (Pound Chat).

While most PC known pets for sale have probably been trade fodder before, PC known doesnt have to mean its been traded; Ive used the term to describe pets Ive merely seen on the PC/have chatted on the boards with as an active pet o:

There isnt one single definition for it if you want a hard quantification of the term. Those kind of deets are best kept in PMs anyway

What are the pros and cons of each? Like, is having a pet that's PC known less risky than a pet that's not known?

Having a PC known pet is always more risky as more people can report you and thus if illegitimate, more chances to get checked by neopets team and have your UC pet converted or even banned.
