Paused squat day. Swapped my bench day since I was working with my coach on the bench yesterday so ignore that it says Thursday lol. Felt weaker than last week when I did this, but pulled thru. I know it's because I didn't sleep well. I got to the gym around 4:30AM lol and left around 7 😭😭 Powerlifting is definitely a sport that takes a lot of time and patience. Resting between sets takes hella long and somehow it still feels like I needed to rest more between my paused squats lol. Done for the week. Going to be doing some DDR/cardio for my active rest days this weekend.
(idk why the image isn't uploading onto the post and I need to attach it instead hmmm)

Yesterday we went swimming again, did some walking afterwards to cool down, then I did some more core stuff. Gonna be meeting with one of my coworkers in a week or so to discuss creating a more solid routine.

I'd be curious to know, what exercises have you been enjoying lately? Your posts have a lot of varied movement which is cool to see. I couldn't do too much or else I get antsy/bored etc.

The core stuff was exercises given to me by my physical therapist back when I was seeing him about my neck and back. So planks, leg extensions, bridges, and some shoulder stretches to try and fix my posture haha.

Swimming I've just been trying to re-teach myself strokes with some help from various equipment, I guess.

Todays goal: Don't muck up at hockey trials. I'm trialling for the top 4 field hockey teams in the area and first one is today. I really should have been preparing but life got way too busy

My partner and I went to the Downtown location for our gym last night and my god. The odds of us going back aren't great. Part of our workout involved going up many flights of stairs because we didn't realize there was an elevator. Oops!

Ice hockey or street/roller hockey??? My coworker plays in a league and I think it's so cool. She's invited me to join a casual team of roller hockey, but I haven't done anything to practice so I don't want to join, even though she said it's super casual lol.

    ---

Today I had a ROUGH day of training, but hit a high PR in deadlifts- only because I had to do them in front of my coach. She gave me a "reality check" talk that I needed about me not trying hard enough in my training because I'm scared of getting injured (I had a horrible back injury a few years ago due to biffing a deadlift and was basically paralyzed for about 2 weeks). I tend to overestimate my RPEs because I don't want to challenge myself too far to be "safe." She pushed me to another "top set" and said "see? You did it and didn't break apart." lol. It was the "pep" talk I needed haha. I greatly appreciate my coach for holding her athletes/clients to higher standards. She said it makes no sense why clients like me don't try as hard as she does because it doesn't matter that she's a "pro" "championship" powerlifter (she won last year in her weight class at the Arnold (as in Schwarzenegger) Classic competition), we all need to push ourselves the same. I love that lol because I definitely think to myself "well, I'm a wimp anyway, so it's ok if I don't push like her because I'm just a random general population person" lol.

Did a few of my core/posture exercises today, then ran/walked a mile (mostly walked). Might've pushed myself too far because my body is just shutting down tonight.

Went swimming again, walked, and did some core stuff. We tried out the sauna this time too and it was really pleasant. I'll have to do that more often. We did get fast food afterwards, but I didn't really eat anything else today so I guess it's okay haha.
