What Makes a Great Avatar?

Ok but what about the profile picture? If the avatar is our visible face, I think the profile picture is something more intimate lol?

I haven't changed my profile picture since I got my ryu. It's part of my cK story. Being a ryumom changed my life hahah

My profile picture is so incredibly old, was made by a user here I can't remember off the top of my head, but they said something about how it was clear I love my pets, and especially since my dog passed (years and years ago at this point), I can't bring myself to change it.

I spliced a few pokemon together for mine heehee, i usually do some variety of mothman art for mine but i really like this one :3 i used to splice sprites all the time and this was a good nostalgic thing to do again.

My avatar is a quilt that I made so I love seeing it when I am on the site. Well I have never changed mine. I like how many of you have different ones.

With my old user name and this one I love being able to customize and create fun bars for that season! I think what makes a great avatar is having something that is meaning full and expresses a part of you

I'm a fan of mine for the obvious reasons (favorite colors, sea serpent is a favorite mythical creature) but I especially love it because it's a little microcosm of cK's kindness and talent. Five people contributed to my avatar: Two by taking a request from me, two by proactively doing something kind for me, and one by taking on a commission for me. It's a little symbol of the community spirit here that makes cK special and makes me feel like I'm part of the community myself to have an avatar so many of the other forum members have had a hand in.

Back in the day my first forums were Adventure Quest and DZ i used to actually do photoshop grunge signatures. that was my thing. my designs nowadays are dated but thats all i knew. i used to use gundam or game characters.

nowadays obvs my name is Excalibur from the King Arthur legends based however i use the Nissan GTR

or any nissan for that matter. I am a mechanic by trade and the only car that was up to my standards of reliability was my Z. so i dove deep into nissan wrenching and figured out most cars share parts from other manufacturers especially family ones: nissan/infinit acura/honda toyota/lexus

anyways lol i preferred nissans and the GTR is the power house of nissan. the reigning godzilla of the 90s.

dont get me wrong they have their flaws. but coming from GM dogcrap, ford rust buckets, and even my fav all time the Evolution GSR my Z, G37 and even GTR's can be more reliable in a sense.

Mostly I just have fun making a customization and then putting my cat in it. I used to make myself custom userbars for every single one, but I've been less inspired with designing them the past couple of years, and when I have been inspired I haven't had time, so I sort of fell off of it.

what makes an avatar really really great is your freedom of choice for any image you like as well as any person to remix it with UBs, artwork etc.

thats what makes it great. even better if youre a cut out from the rest IE unique pictures and unique to the forum and being the only one that has it <3 hope you find something that suites you!
