It's Summertime!

It's finally summer time!
(at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)



So, I want to know...

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer? Are you a total beach bum? Lake lifer? How do you like to stay cool? Popsicles, ice cream, good old fashioned AC?
Maybe you have a favourite memory from the summer time? I wanna hear about it!

I will go first!

As a kid, we would always go to the outdoor waterslide park in June at the end of the school year. We would stay all day until we were EXHAUSTED. There was this one slide that was super scary to me, it was really fast, had big drops and was in pitch black. I remember the year I turned 12, I was FINALLY brave enough to go down it by myself. So I did, and it was a blast! Once it was time to leave, we'd get a twist (chocolate and vanilla swirled) soft serve ice cream cone.

I would be all over that watermelon shaped popsicle. Watermelon flavored anything is my absolute favorite.

We used to have an ice cream truck that would circle my neighborhood in the summer when I was a kid. Everything was a ripoff of course, but nothing was better than rushing outside and getting one of those stupid character-shaped ice creams with the gumball eyes that were *never* placed correctly. TMNT and the Powerpuff Girls were super common ones I remember, but there was also stuff like Pikachu at one point? And I definitely remember a Tweety.

The watermelon one is still sold as well! It's really good

I love summer! I wish it was summer here right now, I'd trade 16C for 30C anyday My idea of cold might be a bit whack though lol
I'm loving reading all the summer stories here!!

My favourite thing to do (like fellow Aussie @(you need an account to see links)) is to enjoy our beautiful beaches! Living on the east coast there's so many to choose from, and I'm super lucky to live a 5min drive from my closest one.
This might be a bit odd to some, but my other favourite thing to do is go insect spotting, especially at night! Watching cicadas come out of the ground, shed their shells and dry their wings is such a meditative experience

I totally agree. Its -1 here till about 8am en then it goes up to about 16 as well. Its cold!

I wonder if I can find anything similar where I live right now... I know there's stuff like shaved ice in the freezer section at the store, but watermelon's not exactly a "common" flavor unless you're buying massive packages of frozen treats, heh.

I'm surprised no one has brought up Fudgesicles yet! I have some in my freezer right meow =) I love having these at home, even in winter lol.
Around where I live there are (or used to be) people who would ride bicycles with freezers attached and sold different types of popsicles and other frozen treats. I would LOVE the fancy ones that were in the shape of like a character with bubblegum in the middle. It wasn't often I was allowed to indulge but gosh it was delish when I could!

those character popsicles with the gumball eyes are SO iconic though, I know they get memed on all the time for looking like they came out of a horror film instead of a freezer when you open the bag and the colors are bleeding and the eyes are all misaligned

LOL YES!!! The spongebob one is a mood IRL and that tweetie birb been smoking a bit too much of the good stuff eh They tasted so good though. I think it's because they weren't your typical flavours you'd get at the grocery store. At least for a while I dont remember being able to get Cotton Candy ice cream. Maybe my mom just didnt want to buy us any.

I'm also not too big into sweets but those fudgsicles are nice when I'm craving a bit of chocolate. Pecans can generally curb my chocolate cravings but sometimes you just have to give in!!

Glob, i miss summer so much my body is lacking VitD. Joking i told @(you need an account to see links) yesterday we had Windy Winter, Rainy Winter, Snowy Winter, Alergic-al Winter, it's always cold outside! Miss summer because of the HEAT! :')
I have always had a love/hate relationship with it too, i'm a summer child too and all my friends were on vacation, so i made my bday a cute cinema day/dinner with family, i really like it, but i don't have any special childhood memory of it haha

I remember going to water parks and going to my aunt's just for the pool (that i miss a lot every summer since i live here), and eating those watermelon shaped ice creams (every ice cream on the pic Tsunami shared are sold by different brands here!), but my faves summers have been pretty late, one year we went to Puerto Madryn, the whole family, it was our last vacation everyone together and it was so funny and cute ♥ I got to dive and it was so awesome, but later that day i got the BEST SUNBURN YOU WILL SEE (because i fell asleep 10 seconds after diving, it is tiring!), it's spoilered! watch, laugh and suffer with me!

Later i did a similar trip with my partner (added a couple locations) and we had a BLAST! We travelled 26 hours on bus and hated it so much we now laugh about it, watched One Piece fully to the latest chapter then, while eating watermelon and fries (yeah, read it right), we walked a lot down the coast line and suddenly rain would fall and we would run to some protection even thought Madryn rain is aggressive as fuck and we would be already soaked but it was ok since sun would dry us pretty quick!

I'm sad that this happened almost 10 years ago, it was the last time we went out on vacation. Need these two years to go by FAST so i can travel again with partner/family ♥

So. I have one more favorite cooling off activity during summer.

My dogs LOVE taking a swim in the pool or playing with the sprinklers. So we all go for a family swim in the pool or local river by the house which is always hilariously cold. The dogs end up super happy because they are soaking wet, able to play with their "dad" in the water, and get some sprinkler zoomies out.

We bought them a dog slip and slide a week ago. I'm super curious if they will love it or completely hate the idea of trying to slide down with water gushing everywhere. Worst comes to worst, it'll turn into an adult slip and slide...

I always wanted to try those protable water slides! Never had one and now i won't get one because of weather, but they seem so funny!!!
Other thing i always wanted to try are those Slip n' Slide things, i can spend afternoons watching Fail Army videos full of those things, now i want one!

We call these Freezies or Mr. Freeze (lol brand name) here!! My favourite flavours (colours?) are red and peach and I don't like orange or blue. I think freezies are my fave summer treat.
