What are your unpopular neopets opinions?

Agreed! Just out of curiosity, how do you (and I guess everyone else) feel about mutie Draiks?

I love mutant draiks, the little brain sticking out of their head is a nice detail.
Could for sure be more disgusting, right now it's more of a cave dragon.

They're definitely the only draiks left that aren't straight up 'adorable cutesie dragons'. Not that draiks were ever fearsome (save for maybe UC dari draiks?), but the conversion only made them more 'sweet-as-pie'. The mutant draiks still have a bit of edge to them!

I like it a lot, looks like it's flaking away, almost as if it's undead. I like the change to the arm length between versions, too. I like both versions, but the old one looks a little more generic with those longer arms; in the new art the arms look less useful, or more vestigial, which just adds to the idea of being a mutant, really.

Big agree. It's a shame because Draiks have a lot of potential to be creepy or intimidating.

I like them too! I think they're one of the nicest colours for the draiks. Actually I'm glad there's a number of mutants still look pretty decent post-conversion (quiggle, tuskaninny, bori, ixi)

This is actually kind of unpopular: Some UC designs were definitely improved upon in the conversion, or the difference is too marginal for their value.
- Mara gelert
- mara grarrl (the version right before the UC version was tight, tho)
- baby eyrie
- most of the robots

Also? I just DO NOT get the fascination with sponge pets, converted or otherwise. They're so ugly and boring! And the UC ones take an insane amount of effort to get, and it's not worth it. Literally any other pet is better.

My most unpopular opinion is that Ogrins are CUTE I used to love them as a kid. Their big feet and big eyes are so endearing to me, idek. I feel like they lost all their potential cuteness from conversion, other than babies.

Also, I hate the Faeries. Not the color, that's fine, but just the Faeries of Neopia. They all seem like stuck-up, haughty bitches and I've loathed them ever since I was a kid. I reject almost every faerie quest I'm given because I don't want to help them.

My unpopular opinion is that my new dreamie is a UC Sponge Peophin. One day I'll get it and it'll soak up all my tears until I lose it to Ice-land.

There's a lot of great ones from before it happened (my very first pet was a Mutant Techo, I love the pre-revamp weird gnarly gecko), I actually like the Xweetok because it went from "fluffy chipmunk" to "weird neon gnarly rat" and that's awesome, but.. yeah. The Shoyru is just a slightly lumpier Shoyru, the Zafara is just kind of scaly and segmented now, the Lupe has... weird metal parts?? At least the Eyrie got to be cool too.
The concept art + older art for Mutant Grundos is p neat though, I wish they could be more like that.

and yeah Usuls /are/ kind of ugly, they're just... generic soft "feminine" squirrel things. Barbie-doll-face-lookin-ass.
Xweetoks are way more visually-interesting in comparison and actually look like fantasy rodent things; I feel they're kind of underrated and have a lot of design potential? Everyone fawns over Lupes and Kougras and stereotypical charismatic animal pets, but, like, Xweetoks (and Eyries, best species 10/10) are slept on.

I have no particular opinion on Sponge pets but the fact that they made them UCs in generic poses is really hilarious to me + they're... sapient sponge pets.
Like, yeah, nowadays that isn't weird with stuff like Toy and Oil Paint and all the other "artificial material" pet colors, but back when Sponge was first a thing, it was hilarious. Imagine just being a freaking sponge.
