This looks like its going the same route as the existing site where nothing can be fixed because it’s too far gone.

Yeah, the other day I said that a botched conversion could kill the site. Now I see people talking about wanting to quit, and others just sounding demoralized. Not trying to say "I told you so" or anything, because I don't think it was a hard prediction to make. I know that peoples' initial reactions to new layouts tend to be negative because new layouts are unfamiliar, but it seems most agree that this new layout is objectively inferior. It's worrying. I didn't want to be right.
It really does boggle the mind, that they can have so many examples to pull from and still settle on this. The only solace I can take at the moment is that this is only day one of the beta, so who knows what could change. But even that doesn't really make me feel good because we just got told that one of the worst features of this change is almost assuredly going to stay.

If nothing else, I guess we got that absolute chad of a Tiki Tack man out of it.

I'm a little behind the times in my understanding of web development so I can't really verify this, but supposedly this is inaccurate. Maybe someone can shed some light on it.

(you need an account to see links) I wrote a script to do it, to be fair it was REALLY hard to write after all If they wanted to use media queries they should just...use them? I don't know how they're writing their styling but adding (min-width: 720px) to only show it on bigger screens is not hard...

it'd be something like this:

Obviously this is a very simplified example, and it won't THAT easy, but it sure wouldn't be hard unless they've already shot themselves in the foot with bad standards.

Somewhat related: I can't imagine how tiny the actual screen would look on a mobile with so much space taken up, and this website is specific to mobile views (I hope to god they don't roll this out permanently on PC...)

Really excited to see these Release Notes, and consistent updates from Devs. They are beginning to act like a real development team. Things will get better and better.

To be fair, anything is a step up from the same goddamn Neoboards we've had since 1999. Like, for fuck's sake, how have they not moved to at least something like a phpBB in twenty years?!

Idk, I find it and the boards in particular to look really... tacky? Like I'm still playing a game meant for kids, or one of those parody social media apps from cartoons.

The boards also feel somehow really tight, claustrophobic, and yet, very empty.

(Also, they're laggy as all hell right now. Dislike.)

these are my experiences from my mobile phone, which is what they're supposed to be updating it for.
on my computer the boards look fine to me.

Yeah, I think that big grey header they have with the av and pet make it kind of difficult to parse. But I stared at it for like an hour and couldn't figure out a better way to do it lmao. Maybe some more colors? Feels a bit Facebook-y.

I DID find I had a much better experience reading boards when I flipped my phone horizontally, since at that point, it mimics the desktop layout.
