Given that I haven't watched Dunkirk, this was my first Nolan movie that doesn't have elements of sci-fi. Was very satisfied that Nolan could weave his trademark non-linear storytelling for a historical piece.
Lol I just read my post again, it was meant to say "not* one bit of it did get boring".

Just watched Barbie in theaters yesterday and it was amazing! I went in not knowing anything about the plot, just that Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling were in it, and it was so great. I really love how they touched on the many many roles of women in society. As a new-ish mom of 2 young girls, certain parts really hit home. Went with a guy friend too and he loved it also! Big recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it yet

Now to go watch Oppenheimer lol

This Saturday was my local theater's annual mystery horror movie marathon Dismember the Alamo. This year's screenings:

    1. Chopping Mall (classic 80s camp with gratuitous nudity and even more gratuitous head explosions)

    2. Ringu which I had somehow never seen before and getting to see in theater was great

    3. All Hallow's Eve from 2013, the first full movie Art the Clown appeared in before Terrifier was made. Some fun parts but overall kinda ehhhh. Anthologies can be cool but this one was pretty weak considering it was basically just setting up a couple of premises with no actual endings. Absolutely love David Howard Thornton though. Art creeps me out more than any classic horror villain and I'm gonna say I'd rather have to fight any version of Pennywise bare knuckled over having to face Art.

    4. Opera (Dario Argento, 1987) By this time like 75% of the audience had trickled out (8 hours in a movie theater is a lot) so the final movie was definitely geared toward the horror true believers. It was great. I'm not sure I could call it my favorite Argento movie but it's definitely my new favorite giallo movie. The soundtrack consists entirely of opera, synthy Brian Eno scores, and heavy metal which shouldn't have worked as well together as it did.

it was a lot of fun, I was really happy with the lineup this year.

my husband and i watched Killers of the Flower Moon this weekend, it was good but it was soooooo long. The story in general is really interesting, and it was nice to have this story highlighted, but i would criticize how they framed it, the movie was more framed around the bad folks, we kinda expected it to be more around the people who were trying to solve the murders, not the ones who did it lol

and thats not really a spoiler, the movie kinda leaves some specifics ambiguous but it was fairly clear the main characters were the baddies haha

    Oppenheimer spoiler below:

To answer the title question, it was Oppenheimer for me, too. I haven't been interested in much of the stuff that's made it to cinemas here: it's usually franchise titles.

I watched "When evil lurks" two days ago. I don't have much hope in current horror movies, but I quite liked this one.

Lol I haven't been to a theater in so long
The last movie I saw was Dan in real life (2007 movie)

I prefer watching in the comfort of my own home
Too many inconsiderate people out there
I also hate hearing people munch on popcorn loudly 😭
