I just found my first heart! I had thought that the candy hearts gave the lil cutie bar but I've read back and saw that bar is reserved. What are the hearts for? Does it unlock more slots for the bar messages?

I received the bar after I sent either three or five grams. I unlocked a variant after finding my fifth candy heart. I'm not entirely sure how I unlocked the other two variants today, but it has to be related to sending more grams because I haven't found any candy hearts today.

I've found six candy hearts in total so far.

Honestly i'm desperate to disable just the valentines effect that's hearts. everyone's name has hearts around it and its making my search impossible.

I'm hoping this is okay to share, feel free to remove if it isn't, but this should hide those hearts:
