Wanting to change my username

Bat is such a sweetheart honestly.

I think all these replies are definitely pushing me to a namechange so, time to see if the name I want is actually untaken or not!

Edit x2: I've encountered a problem and the name (names?) I want are untaken. Oh no.

My initial reaction when I saw a message from Bat was 'Oh god.. did I do something wrong?!" and thought I was in trouble lol. No it was just Bat offering to change my username for me and I thought it was the sweetest fucking thing ever

Exactly this. No one knows who I am. I'll change every time I remember. It doesn't bother me. I like being a stranger.

Big proponent for the whole "never let them know your next move" methodology. Different communities = different names for me 90% of the time.
Personally planning on changing my name here soon too, since this name was the product of me failing to recall my old account's username (I lurked here like 10 or something years ago) for 30 minutes while eating a kale salad.
It will likely be something equally random.

IMO the only reason to regret changing your name is losing contacts or being impersonated by someone else down the road...which, in a niche forum, isn't really going to happen.

What I did in my transition was to put a little message in my signature that I was formerly named...
But if you're like Lilac, maybe you don't want people to know who you were.

I meant to say they are taken, not untaken LOL. I can't believe I messed that one up.
I will probably make a signature for former name - if I can now find a name I like.

I’ve only changed my username once, and it was years ago when Joe had strongly urged people in the community to do after a particularly troublesome banned member.

I don’t know exactly why I chose Cinnamoroll, other than he is my favourite Sanrio character! I probably couldn’t think of anything and I think I just chose the first thing I looked at that was around me at the time? But now it’s become my identity here on the forum, and I am very attached to it! I also love that people call me Cinna for short, as I think it’s very cute and endearing. I’ll never change it again!

Tbh, I only had the name as I didnt plan to actually be active here. Just to buy a few things here and there.
But when I did start to chat more, I wanted to change it to my favorite Pokemon! Luckily, it wasn't taken so I got to be a little Bulba!

I did change my username recently too. I've been on here for 10 years but wasn't active till very recently. So I changed it to something I've used on gaming platforms (consoles) from a band I used to like. I put a note in my signature for a week about it.
