This is the saddest news i heard today,

What's the source of the fire? Is it an arson?
thats so sad to remember..... the saddest thing to me is that maybe our next president wont even care about it... the brazilian people doesnt know how to vote....

1 month after the incident, it is still unclear what caused the incident.
Who should we blame? The lack of government interest in preserving the museum!

I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to conspiratorial thinking, but I just can't shake the feeling that the fire was deliberate. I'm not an expert of Brazilian politics at all, but what with Bolsonaro getting so close to the presidency and how much of a low-trust society Brazil is, I wouldn't be surprised at all if an investigation finds someone was at least tacitly negligent in keeping these artifacts safe for political purposes. After all, sweeping away traditional history is a key goal of people like Bolsonaro's more extreme ideological enemies.
Though, it could just be a huge stretch
