Up was 15 minutes of heart wrenching despair followed by 2 hours of emotionally recovering from the opening scene

How about Coco? The one movie that made me tear up so bad I was shaking.

Pretty much everytime an animal dies I will shed a tear or two. But the one that has made me tear up the most times recently has to be Coco :'D, because of certain spoilery scenes. Surprisingly I didn't cry once during Titanic, it was way too cringy for me -:/

I read (you need an account to see links) recently that talked about how sadness and mourning lingered in Don Bluth films, especially in The Land Before Time. And they're right - TLBT does have a feeling of hopelessness in the air throughout the whole darn thing. I do remember not just crying as a kid, but feeling emotionally affected, a lingering hurt. I watched it a few years back as an adult, and the feeling is the same. The Lion King had a sad moment and I did cry, but he's basically over it by the next scene and they get a fun song. I never realized this contrast before reading that article and really thinking about it.

Also, Homeward Bound was sad as heck. My friend and I rented it for nostalgia and we were a sobbing mess by the end. You have a different appreciation for it as an adult because by then you actually know what it's like to lose a lifelong friend. (Watching as a kid, they're still with you so you don't understand those feelings as well.) This was especially sad because they built up Shadow to be the most wonderful noble dog there is. I know this sounds like a spoiler for those who haven't seen, but it isn't really.

    Yes! This one too!

Actually, ANY movie ending (happy or sad) can make me shed a tear if it's late enough at night and I'm watching alone. I guess it get more emotional and sentimental at night. I can definitely remember tearing up at the end of Kiki's Delivery Service once, and that was a nice happy ending.

I was watching Coco with my girlfriend and tried my best to hold back the tears towards the end. All I could think about was my dog who passed some time before watching the movie. Its okay though because Im sure Coco got a lot of tears from everyone.
