So, sorry to ask that, but I'm hoarding a duped item. Is it really unsafe? Or I'm ok because I can say that I didn't know that was duped?

My guess is that anyone who abused the duping glitch will get frozen eventually, along with most of the people who acquired one in some way. Some might slip through the cracks but for the most part I do believe this will get cleaned up. It's the luck of the draw really. If they do catch you then there's no way you'll be getting your account back, and the old "but I didn't knoooow!" trick definitely won't work!
If you use your main and side accounts all on the same IP, its possible to get chain frozen meaning every account you have logged into on that IP will be banned. The way to avoid this is to use a VPN or proxy from the second you create an account. We call these accounts 'shells' and we use them to cheat and do things such as hoard duped items so if we do get caught and banned, our other accounts will remain safe.
